Instructional and a great coloring book
I found each plants picture and identification to be so helpful in being able to find it in the wild and become more intimately educated to it's benefits to this world. Can't wait to take my time with this.

Educational but simple drawings
The drawings are basic but the information is educational. If you like to color and just want something pretty to do and learn at the same time, it’s a good book. The Dover coloring books overall are quality.

An experienced colorer likes it
Bought as a gift for an experienced colorer. She likes the subject matter and the drawings. Paper quality is first class.

Excellent teaching aid.
Because this book presents plants from all over the world, it's not necessarily my first choice for identifying local and/or native plants for medicinal use. But the pictures are accurate (as much as they can be with simple line drawings), and for those of us who use dried herbs purchased from a supplier, we can see how the plant that produces those leaves, flowers, stems, or roots actually looks. Each page includes the common name of the plant along with the scientific name and a good description of where the plant is found, what it's medicinal characteristics are, and how it is (or has been) used. There are also words of caution where necessary and appropriate, along with a solid disclaimer in the front of the book. Colored pictures appear on both sides of the covers.

Fantastic learning tool for the budding herbalist.
My 7 year old granddaughter developed an interest in plants when we figured out that plantain works great on her occasional rashes. The color pictures included that allow her to match colors when she's coloring the "coloring book" pictures helps her remember how the plants look. The descriptions provide good information on the plant and some of its uses. This is the first coloring book where she was very careful to match colors (no purple faces here) and stay in the lines, which tells me she loves this book. She's even blending crayon colors to match where needed. It would be great if there were a series of these instead of just one.

Makes a beautiful Materia Medica
I never understood the adult coloring book fad until now. I love that this is both practical, in giving nice specimen pictures, and relaxing, as you color them in. I’ve taken to writing the plant characteristics in the ample space around them as a way to keep the information fresh in my mind and create my own herbal materia medica. They frame well for a beautiful wall hanging.
