Add this to my collection of great fix-y stuff!
A delivery person put three cases of water on the edge of my patio table. While I appreciate he wanted to not dump them on the porch, they were too heavy and cracked the hollow aluminum leg of my table. He is a great guy and still gets his Christmas tip from me! :). Anyway, the table always leaned and was unstable after that. I didn't want a new one since it matched my other furniture.I tried fixing it with duct tape, but it wasn't strong enough. I couldn't figure out how to use glue since it was a hollow tube. Plus, it is curved so I couldn't fashion some sort of collar or anything. I thought of that expanding spray insulation stuff to spray in the tube, but it isn't really too strong to hold a table.I saw this on a YouTube video for something else and was hopeful it would work for my table. I got a roll and read the directions. I failed though. I wanted it thin enough so I could rewrap the plastic rattan stuff over it. But I fussed too long with it and somehow when it hardened, it was loose. So it was more like a bracelet on the let of my table. GrrrrI was impressed with the hardness of it so I ordered another roll (I should have bought more than one the first time!) This time, I took care to pull it more tightly when wrapping. Plus I knew from practicing with the first roll how long a piece I needed, where to start, how to avoid creases, etc. It worked perfectly!I am not sure how I messed up the first time, it isn't really all that hard. I think you can't keep fooling with it and make sure to wrap pretty tightly. Not like crazy, but enough that it holds to the thing you're fixing, not just to itself.I do with they would sell mini rolls or patches of this stuff. I didn't need the whole big roll and once you open the foil package, you have to use it. If you have something smaller to fix like I did, look around your house for anything else that might need fixing before you start so you don't have to waste as much. Maybe there is a way to reseal and save the unused portion, but I don't know it..Overall, it is a great product. I have a quirk about me that I love trying to fix little things. The bother me until I just have to try to fix them...cracks in things , chipped paint, scratches, hinges, switches, tangled jewelry, crooked trim molding, even poorly formatted documents!! Haha! So I have tried lots of products. I really like this! This, weldbond, 2 part epoxy, sugru, and sticky tack (and even uv gel nail products) are some of my favorite fixer things!

Was skeptical, but this product rocked!
I've been struggling with finding an effective repair method for a snapped windshield wiper stalk on a Mini Cooper (it's thin, stubby and plastic) and had tried various other methods (glue, bracing, electrical tape, internal supports) but nothing held up to the normal functions (twisting, turning and pushing) of the wiper controls. When I read of the great reviews of FiberFix, I thought I'd give it a try.Because of the tight and awkward placement of the wiper controls between the steering wheel and the dashboard, I figured I'd have a lot of trouble applying the wrap without causing a mess. I'll admit that I was VERY apprehensive about the "one-shot" nature of this product. If I messed up the wrapping process in any way, it'd be a big sticky disaster. I also taped newspaper around all nearby surfaces to minimize getting any sticky epoxy on anything. Between that and the black gloves provided in the box, it looked like I had prepped the car for surgery!I ended up needing the extra hands of my son to hold the 2 pieces of the stalk together while I dunked the tape into a cut-off milk container (filled with water) to activate the adhesive. Moment of truth. Fortunately, once I got the wrapping started, I was able to tug and stretch the fiber tape around all the various curves of the wiper stalk. "Hey, this is actually working," I thought! About halfway through the roll, I could start to feel the tape start to harden up, so I picked up the pace. Surprised that I'd used up the entire roll on this one repair, I did a final molding and squeezing of the wrapped stalk to make sure everything was solid and in place. (I had considered cutting the roll in half because of other reviewer's comments about having to use it all at once, but I was glad I didn't… that 40" length was ALL needed for this job!)Though the directions say the repair is good to go in a half-hour or so, and even though it soon felt rock hard, I let it dry overnight before I tried testing the wiper stalk again. It worked! I thought the repair would look horrible, but as it dried to a medium grey (NOT black as it looks on the package) it almost matched the existing grey of the interior plastics, and kind of looks like carbon fiber if you use your imagination. I contemplated sanding it smooth and painting it, which you can do apparently, but I probably won't ever get to it. It's not pretty, but it definitely did the job! After a month of driving, I have full confidence that this repair will outlast the car, and will not EVER be the point of failure if the wiper stalk were to break again. The repair feels as hard as a plaster cast, and now that I think of it, that's exactly what the application process feels like: first it is wet and malleable, but soon dries to a hardened state. There is ZERO flex at the repair point, and even at the edges, where the tape has only a single-layer wrap, the tape is definitely adhered permanently to the plastic stalk. Plastics are notoriously hard to repair, so I could see this working with other tricky repair situations, like cracked power tool casings or outdoor furniture.Bottom line, it works great once you get past the "all-or-nothing" aspect of the process. If you eff up the application, then of course you might not like this product. So if you're all thumbs, get help from someone more coordinated!

You must use the entire package when opened!
The good news: The product seems (so far) to work as claimed. The not-so-good news: The Amazon product description doesn't tell a prospective customer that the package is a one-time use dealie. In other words, when you open the package you supposedly have 5 minutes to use the entire contents: You can divide the product and make more than one repair at the time when you open the package. However, you cannot re-package an unused portion for a later use. That info should be provided up front in Amazon's product description so that potential buyers with small repairs would know to buy the product in smaller packages ... rather than buying a large package, much of which might be wasted when they use just a fraction of the package on a small repair.

Works really good!
I love this stuff, it's very strong and works for a permanent fix.The only issue I had was that my first roll, of 3, in the box, was really brittle and dry and old. It wouldn't even absorb water to use it. I looked at the Best if used by date and it was 2018.I sent it back after trying a different roll in the box and it was good. I sent it back for a replacement and they sent the replacement and it has the same 2018 date on it!!I don't have a use for those yet so we'll see the next time I need them if they are good or not..Or I may just send them back because by the time I get to using them, the return date might be passed and then I'd be out of luck! hmmmm
