I bought this drill bit to drill a hole in the front door to install a peep hole viewer. After reading reviews about the center drill bit failures, I removed the spring and then used a regular drill bit to drill the pilot hole through the door. I then used the bit assembly to drill the larger holes, drilling from the outside on each side of the door. It worked perfectly. The cuts were smooth and clean.

Just the right cutting tool for Earl Diamond Solid Brass 220-Degree Large Door Viewer Security Peek Peephole. Cut through steel door. Made my whole job easier.

I was skeptical of this bit at first since the teeth look so aggressive. I had to drill a foam filled steel door. I was concerned that it would catch on the sheet metal and tear it. However, this bit worked perfectly. I drilled a smaller pilot hole first because I wanted to penetrate the door from both sides. I used the bit on high speed with gentle pressure and the result was flawless.

This was recommended to work with a through the door viewer. The drill was not nearly deep enough to get through the door and required multiple drills then emptying then re-drilling cycles to complete the job. Because of this it was much more likely that the hole was not perfectly orthogonal to the door with the result that the viewer did not mount correctly. Had to wallow out the hold to get the mount to work properly. This is not the correct tool to make a hole in a door for accurately mounting something like a through the door viewer.
