It holds the canvas in place but it was just hold to hold it for me. I was trying something new. Circle ones are for me. You may be able to hold it and stitch but it just didn't work for me.

I was quite impressed with this hoop, especially loved the shape and how light weight it is. I am using it on my counted cross stitch projects!

I had been fussing this morning about my embroidery hoop not holding my work sufficiently tight and then I received this weird-looking square plastic hoop. I am in love. It is the right size (I ordered Medium) and it holds my work perfectly. Now it would not make an attractive frame for display but it is just right for my needs.

I can't review the hoop as part of it is missing. I am disappointed as I was really looking forward to using it.

Won’t open large enough for a quilt sandwich which is 2 layers of muslin & a layer of batting.
