Q: Is this item the entire assembly pictured or just the rubber recoil pad, with no aluminum mounting plates?

This butt pad come as you see it. It may not completely cover the base of the stock that might be slightly larger.

Q: Will the base be a bit large for a compact stock?

You need to measure your stock and compare it to the length of the base.

Q: Will this fit a browning citori cxs?

They are designed to require some fitting at assembly. If you are not capable of drilling or elongating the mounting holes and filing the mounting plate to fit your stock then don"t order it. Check the width and height of your stock. If it is within the dimensions of the mounting plate then with a little fit up you should be ok. It took me a couple of hours to do it right.

Q: can you get it in a flat recoil pad insted of curved?

I have only seen the Bisley curved.
