Truly the best one
Absolutely the best mandoline I've ever owned or used. Incredibly fast and productive when you have a lot of slicing and julienne to do. Very much worth the extra money over the plastic OXO mandolines for the solid build, ease of use and easy cleaning. The way you simply twist the dial to set different julenne cuts is genius! No need to change blades (like lower priced OXO) or flip levers around (like Bron). The food holder works superbly, and the whole thing cleans up easily with a bristled scrubber.

Great slicer, also purchase some cut resistant gloves.
This slicer works well and cleans easily. don't bother with using the included vegetable holder. Slicing items will be much easier and safer if you get some cut resistant gloves.

Very sharp and cuts well
This probably works like a dream! I love it for dehydrating apples, and Au Gratin potatoes! Beware, it’s very sharp! Don’t put your fingers in blade to grab anything; use a tool of some kind. Just turn knob to adjust size.

Good product, just not easy to clean.
It's a good mandoline....works well. Lots of variability in slicing thickness. The only drawback so far is that the julienne blades are difficult to access to clean. One search suggested the blades and tray are removeable/accessible to facilitate cleaning...this is not the case. While it's easy to use, the cleaning is not really well designed. For small jobs, a good knife is still better and faster. On the positive side, the straight/curvy slicing blade IS very easy to clean, and that is a definite positive.Slicing things like pickles is really easy and fast, though.

If I could give 0 stars - I would
I was in dire need of a new mandoline - I had one for a very long time and it worked great. But after years of use, the safety holder cracked and the blade was "finally" losing its sharpness. So I did a bunch of research on mandolines - and I took the recommendation of a popular food show that reviews kitchen tools of all types and makes their recommendations. I have always had good luck with this method - air fryer, toaster, etc. This is the first time I have been disappointed! Based on other great reviews - not sure if I just got a bad one or what - BUT... This thing is absolutelyt awful! First off the safety handle - the spring load is so tight that even a pretty substantial potato gets literally shot out of the thing! Doesn't hold any vegetable at all! Very difficult to "slide" - and I use that term loosely - up and down the shaft - really takes brute force. And as far as the slicing goes - well if you just want "slices" it seems to work just fine - but for the julienne settings - for french fries or julienne veg - its' totally worthless. It "cuts" the french fries - BUT - not all the way - they come out in one piece and you have to separate them! I should have returned it after my first use - but I thought surely that spring load would ease upon further use - and as far as the slicing and dicing goes - being new - maybe it was just a learning curve - but no - after a couple months of use - I have decided this garbage and and that's where it's going. I wouldn't even donate it.

When you need more precision than a knife
I’m reasonably good with a chef’s knife. There are times, such as any gratin potatoes or julienne carrots, where more precision (or greater safety) are required. I have used this mandolin quite a few times since receiving it. It has performed nearly flawlessly. There are several features which in my opinion make it stand out among mandolins.Safety. Mandolins must be used carefully. This unit has a locked setting where the blades are tucked away to minimize accidental cutting. The blade is removable should you think that important. The holder for slicing the food is spring-loaded with an indicator on top giving you an idea of how much remains to be sliced. It is also equipped with 3 pins which penetrate the food to lessen slippage during use. With those in mind I use and recommend a cut-resistant glove.Utility. Thickness settings are achieved with a knob on one side. There is an indicator on the side with positive stops at each thickness. Moving beyond the thickest slicing setting there two additional choices for julienne slicing. The removable blade is also reversible which permits making rippled slices. The foldable foot is rubber-coated and well constructed making for good stability while using. Do remember though that those slices have to go somewhere so be prepared to move them from beneath the slicer frequently and keep your countertop reasonably dry.If you are in the market for a mandolin I can recommend you seriously consider this one.

Blade is dull and and holder pinches
My old de Buyer mandoline (V blade) is able to be used for lengthwise parsnip chips (not the easiest thing to do), but I lost a screw for it and can’t find a replacement. My husband got me this Oxo model and I was willing to try it. I’m not a fan. Firstly, I wear medium gloves (my hands are not small!) but oxo makes its products too fat for me to hold onto, especially as I get older and the arthritis in my hands gets worse. I cannot get the blade to stay locked so every time I try to do something tough like parsnips the vegetable gets stuck in the blade or the blade slides out. The “safety” holder pinched my hand multiple times because the spring mechanism is too strong (and unnecessary in my opinion - my de Buyer version has a manual plunger for the holder which is perfect). And generally holders are useless if you want to slice something lengthwise rather than crosswise. If you want to use this oxo mandoline for cukes, zucchini or maybe potatoes, it probably works ok. But it can’t do tomatoes without mushing them and it certainly can’t do carrots or parsnips - the blade is way too dull. Finally, it is bulky to store; a hole in the handle would be great to hang it and a way to clip the safety holder firmly onto the mandoline would be another improvement.
