BUCKNBEAR KNIVES Custom Handmade Damascus Steel Blank Blade for Knife Making

The blank came wrapped in a nice padded box. It's exactly what I expected.I tested it with a file and it is hardened. The blade is barley sharp. But that's OK because scales still need to be put on.I found a pin that fit perfectly in the holes. The pin measured 2.80 mm / 0.110 in.I ordered a second blade and the pin holes are exactly 3mm - 1/8. For the smaller holes I just chucked a 1/8 brass rod in my drill and used sandpaper to achieve a perfect fit.

The media could not be loaded. The blade comes hardened all the way through out the handle so expect to go through a few drill bits if you don’t normalize the steel, great knife for the price

This project was fun to do and was my first knife handle / scale project. The existing holes were a bit of a pain and I ended up following a tutorial that required heating parts of the handle (to less than 1400 degrees Fahrenheit) to allow re-drilling so that the pins would work. Overall will gladly purchase again for future projects. 4-stars because of the ambiguity of handle pin hole sizes - recommend seller add a description of the hole sizes to make this easier for folks to save time.

The blade seems to be of good material. Fairly easy to work with.

Okay... For the money this was a very fun build. I would and did buy again for a gift to a friend.The blank does have some detractions like odd size pin holes I ended up drilling out my own. The bevel is a little odd and took a minute to sharpen correctly. But over all nice tempered real layered Damascus knife blank.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday (along with scales, pins and glue from another seller) and he LOVED it. Started working on it right away and says its his favorite knife he's ever owned.The Damascus steel is beautiful!Perfect for a 'do it yourself' knife lover.

Ok for the money. Blade needs lots of work to be sharp and useful.

I coffee etched the blade to darken the damascus. I used some #12 or #10 copper wire for the pins because that's what I had in the shop. It worked great. Made grips with black tinted epoxy with gold and copper mica powder in it.Blank came oiled. Packaged well.
