Usually these blocks have a footprint, something that stops the pin from going all the way through. A paintbrush stick solved the problem easily. For the price, I'd buy it again!

This was perfect! We use it to pin bugs at different heights. This product allows you to stabilize the bug, while you push the pin through the bug, and down through the little box.

This is a very nice wooden pinning block for small to medium sized insects. Arrived quickly and was well packed. As described. Highly recommend.

It’s cheap, it works, it isn’t as good as the ones in my job, mainly that those are heavier, polished and sanded. Even varnished. Mine has some splintering on the edges and the holes are a tiny bit roughly made. But it works and it’s cheap, so I’m happy with it.

Even if you're just pinning for fun and not for anything scientific, this is nice for positioning your insect in the best possible spot when pinning.

This pinning block just arrived extremely damaged. I feel like the bottom tier will break off with use as there is a huge chip across it. For $10 I’m extremely disappointed in this purchase, this is not a quality pinning block and I’m unsure if it will even hold up. If I could give zero stars I would :( **EDIT** I emailed Amazon to let them know I received a defective item and they shipped me a brand new, non-defective one for free! It arrived very quickly and is exactly what I need! Thank you!!

El bloque de montaje me ha servido para montar 653 insectos en puntas (triángulos entomológicos de 11x5 mm). Todavía no muestra signos de desgaste aún después de utilizarlo por varias semanas. El único inconveniente que le veo es que los hoyos en donde insertas el alfiler, fueron perforados hasta atravesar el bloque. Por lo tanto, al momento de introducir los alfileres para atravesar las puntas, si lo hago con mucha fuerza, la punta afilada del alfiler atraviesa todo el bloque y raya la superficie de la mesa en que tenga apoyado el bloque. Mi solución fue poner un pedazo de plástico debajo del bloque, para no rayar la mesa. Fuera de ello, cumple su propósito.

Exactly what it needs to be. Precise depths and easy to carry in you pinning kit. If you have precision woodworking skills, don't buy this. It's easily made. If you genuinely cannot be arsed / lack the tools or skill, buy this block. It will last forever under normal use. Note: This is so small I said 'awww' when I took it out of the packaging.

Smaller than expected and the wood is very firm that pins bend trying to place.
