We're super happy with this skillet!
We needed to replace a previous skillet that we loved and had been using for years, so the bar was high. I did a lot of research and several "experts" recommended this one. We're very happy with it: it's sturdy, but not too heavy, and the non-stick coating is of such great quality that I haven't needed to use oil or cooking spray. It's an amazing skillet for the price.

Top Choice for a Nonstick Pan
This review is for OXO Good Grips Pro 12" Frying Pan Skillet, 3-Layered German Engineered Nonstick Coating, Dishwasher Safe, Oven Safe, Stainless Steel Handle, Black. I purchased this for a house member who really likes nonstick cookware. I ordered this one, because Cook's Illustrated America's Test Kitchen rated it the best. It's a very nice pan, and we have used it many times so far. The nonstick surface is holding up very well, and it is definitely nonstick. We have cooked eggs, meat, chicken, fish, and other items in it. Nothing stuck to the pan. We only hand wash it, and we only use non-metal utensils with it. The weight of the pan is good, and the handle is comfortable and ergonomic. All-in-all this is a great pan if you are looking for something nonstick. A side note about nonstick pans: I am generally not a fan of nonstick pans. I don't like cooking with something that is a part of planned obsolescence. All nonstick cookware slowly starts to wear down with use. It is just the nature of it. So, eventually all nonstick cookware has to be replaced, as eventually it will lose its nonstick properties. This brings me to the other part that I don't like. Nonstick cookware uses chemical products to make it nonstick, and those chemicals wind up in your food. Reports claim the chemicals are safe, but you have to judge your level of confidence in the reports. I don't see a benefit to having added chemicals in my food. Also, you can't use metal utensils with nonstick pans, as the metal will damage the nonstick coating. This generally means one set of non-metal cooking utensils and a separate set of metal utensils to use with your standard cookware. So, I have two sets of cooking utensils. Also, different nonstick cookware will have different maximum temperature ratings. This pan is rated up to 430 F degrees. If you go above that you breakdown the chemical nonstick coating, which not only ruins the nonstick coating, but it also puts those chemicals into your food. I once had a different brand of nonstick pan many years ago that I cooked an omelette in. The nonstick coating had broken down and left all sorts of black flakes on my omelette, so both the omelette and pan went into the garbage. Personally, I prefer to go with a high-quality, multi-clad, stainless steel set of pots & pans that I can use any utensils on that I like and will last me forever. However, if you are going to purchase a nonstick pan this one is an excellent choice because it is a good pan and at a good price point for replacement.

Absolutely the best
I ordered this after seeing this type of pan on America’s test kitchen. It is truly nonstick and fairly lightweight to use. I have ordered one for myself and a few folks in my family. I also found one a little bit smaller. I will keep ordering these for everyone I know as it is definitely high-quality for a relatively low price.

Scratches EASILY! BUYER BEWARE!!
We are now on our second pan as the first one was scratched to the heavens the first night it arrived. We literally used it just to heat a couple corn tortillas and all we did was place them in the pan on one side for about 30-45 seconds then flipped to the other side and did the same. In sliding these around the pan GENTLY, mind you, when we removed the tortillas low and behold there were scratches all over the surface. At first we couldn't believe our eyes and said there's no way, so we waited for the pan to cool to room temp and proceeded to wash it with a NON-Abrasive sponge but to our dismay those wretched scratches were still there. Definitely not a nice sight after ONE use and seeing as how we paid almost $50.00 for this pan!! So we returned this as defective because we believe we did nothing wrong. We didn't even use a utensil, we flipped them by hand. Well the return was accepted and we opted for a replacement of the same pan thinking this was a fluke and maybe something was just wrong with THAT pan. We received our replacement about a week later and we used it to cook eggs, etc. and everything was great UNTIL over the weekend we used it to cook pupusas. Now mind you, pupusas are made with a SOFT masa dough. All we did was heat a little oil in the pan and cooked them on each side until crispy on the outside but still nowhere near what you would think it would take to SCRATCH a pan. Unbelievable. We removed the food when it was done and you guessed it, scratches galore. This time deeper, you could feel the ridge with your finger when you ran it over the scratch and also the finish (non-stick coating) was already coming off in the middle. Ya'll this pan was only ever heated to medium and not ever used on high heat. It just wasn't needed as medium did the job pretty well and honestly that's the setting we use mostly as in learning about proper cooking we found out it can warp some pans, etc. if it is heated too high. Overall we are sending this second pan back as well, this time for a full refund. We are highly disappointed in this OXO Pan and will GLADLY be taking our money elsewhere. Such a shame because when the pan arrives it is so beautifully packaged and the shine and shimmer on that pan is so elegant and when you look at it, it looks like a nice professional pan, but how is this worth anything when you have to fear it scratching like this?!? I could understand if we were using metal utensils/trying to cook something rough but never expected the turnout we had. Hope this helps others and best of luck if you buy this pan. Apparently it's particular on what you can and can't cook in it.

Not too shabby
After using this pan for about six months, I can give my opinion. The durability seems to be as advertised, a very tough surface indeed. Holds heat fairly well for an inexpensive pan. My only criticism would be the lack of its non-stick capabilities. I't not all that bad and allows for easy clean up, but it's only a kinda non-stick pan. I can live with it, though. I think there's a compromise: you can get durability or non-stick, but not both, with our current technologies. As far as the surface being safe, who knows? I hope for the best.

Great value for the price
This pan was the first time I bought any kind of cookware online and it did not fail to impress. It cooks everything evenly and cleans easily. Overall a great value for the price, I would recommend every one should get one to have in their kitchen.

Wrote a negative review at first because I seasoned the pan, used it and there was one spot where food was always sticking. Was disappointed as it wasn't cheap. However, after about 10-15 uses, it started to work perfectly. Very happy with it. Great pan.

Great non-stick pan. Just wish it was deeper.

As rated number 1 best none stick frying pan by America's Test Kitchen, and after that happened OXO doubled the price. I'm not impressed greedy greedy OXO. Well back to the pan the coating is deffinetly highly non-stick but very delicate easy to scratch very easy, but if your willing to baby it with silicon spatulas, soft sponge clean up's and the like, for second to non anti-stick Frying pan you wont be sorry , This baby deliver's, but I still prefer A cast iron , or well seasoned high carbon skillet but until this stupid Pandemic is over I'm stuck in an apparnment building with no gas range. I hope this helps any one looking for one of these to dicide if this is for you, be safe and take care.

Es un gran sartén, es la segunda vez que lo compramos, sin embargo esta vez llegó despostillado y no nos dimos cuenta hasta haberle quitado el empaque.
