Excellent resource for K-5 STEM challenges
Excellent for introducing a K-5 STEM tower challenge. Helped me provide students with an excellent introduction to building and explaining the necessary components for building a strong and stable structure. The format of an informative page with images followed by an idea for modeling the concept was engaging and helpful for all students.

Great concept book on large building construction with easy experiments
Great book for elementary age students to learn about how buildings (primarily large commercial tower-like buildings) are constructed to withstand wind, shifting, and weight among other aspects. Each chapter covers a different topic such as foundations and has a little experiment at the end to illustrate the concept. For example, the concept of shear walls has an experiment with standing a cereal box on a side edge and opening both ends. Try to push it over with a finger. Now tape the ends closed and try again. Is the box sturdier with the ends taped closed? The cover shows the experiment of bracing using spaghetti and gumdrops. We really enjoyed this one and found it easily accessible for younger readers.
