Q: what is the rod diameter? I am using it for prototyping with metal with a defined hole diameter so I must be sure this fits

I ordered the 6mm version. The diameter of the rod is .158+/-.001 inches.

Q: Are both pieces of the screw solid brass?

Yes! Because they are brass, be careful not to overtighten when you screw them together. I generally use a tiny dab of blue loctite on the threads to keep them from coming unscrewed while in use.

Q: What extensions would work with these?

I’m not sure what you mean by extension. I use them for my leather work. I make knife and Ask sheaths as a hobby.

Q: Can these screws be used as replacement screws on a Kydex holster?

I would say they would do a good job. Would suggest a little plumbers tape on the treads to prevent it from unscrewing over time and use some nylon or rubber washers to protect from over tightening.
