The Invisible [Blu-ray]

The Invisible grows on you. You come to like Nick Powell, a child of wealth and privilege, fighting to establish his own identity under the thumb of a strong-willed mother. An act of true friendship on Nick's part causes his path to cross with Annie Newton, once a good kid and now a promising gang leader. The situation grows complicated to the point where Nick is brutally beaten and left for dead. Here, the film takes a paranormal shift as Nick returns in a strange limbo of being neither dead or alive, unable to communicate with or aid those trying to find him.Based on a Swedish book set as a police procedural, the original Swedish film added depth and complexity, and fundamentally changed the idea. This film fine-tunes it into a tight, gripping multidimensional work. This is not a teen angst film. You must pay attention. The acting is excellent. The scenery and settings often beautiful. Like any mystery, you can't sit back and be passive. You must jump in with both feet. The Invisible will reward you for it.

I wasn't expecting much, based on the professional reviews of this that I read when it was in theaters. Perhaps that's why I enjoyed it as much as I did. It's an interesting idea that was executed quite beautifully, with solid performances, too. It might not be a perfect movie, but it's worth watching. I was impressed with the ways the writers explained things, not just for Nick, but for the viewers as well. There's an eerie, beautiful moment involving a bird that I found truly amazing, and it's the turning point in the movie that drives the 2nd act. Give the film a chance and stick with it.

Lead character Nick, played very well by the actor. However, "Annie" is simply awful. There is NO way she is believable as a street smart badass female. Throughout the entire thing I kept looking at a preppy pretty girl trying to play a thug. She neither looks nor acts the part she is playing. The premise is good, Nick is good as are just about all the others. She is a central part of the store and thus she ruined it for me. Worst of all, she is not likeable and therefore not redeemable. I won't ruin the ending but suffice it to say I thought it was stupid except for the last few minutes.

I wasn't sure I was going to like it, so went in with low expectations. I ended up liking it. The only issue I sort of had was the Annie character. Just not very convincing and not well written. That being said, the movie is still good. I liked the story.

I definitely thought I would like this movie more, since I tend to like thrillers. **Spoiler alert** It's about a girl who beats a guy to death, and then she falls in love with him. SUPER weird movie. It's not even a thriller; just a messed up/twisted creepy love story. I typically like romantic movies too, but it wasn't a romance either; just weird. Don't buy this movie. It's not good.

Bad acting except for the Annie Newton character. Awful dialogue. Lots of dark shots to cover up the fact that not much is happening. Minor sex scenes. Some snogging. A few bikini stuffers. Not interesting or entertaining. Watched once and tossed out.

This movie is one of those movies that make you think when you finish it and then wanna watch it immediately again. I really enjoyed it.

If you turn your brain off, can be an ok movie. But most leads here sound like this was their first read of the script. Complete monotone. The supporting actors did much better. And the end... just gotta say the guy was real selfish in having her do that, when it was obvious what she should have been doing, to help them both. A royal soap opera of train wreck, that didn't know when to stop.There were some good parts, like seeing some characters grow and show move depth to them. But it's not worth it.

Excellent just what I ordered

Watched it online and now can't get it through online streaming. An imaginative and well acted film. Dark though. Am surprised it hasn't led to more roles for key actors. Arrived speedily and in good condition.
