Seth Thomas Obsidian II Black Lacquered with Black Carbon Fiber Inset Case and White Dial Arch Desk and Table Clock

I received this clock today to give as a gift for Christmas. I am so disappointed. I have always believed that Seth Thomas clocks were made in the USA as stated in the description for this clock "...America’s oldest and most respected clockmaker... " In fact, as stated on the clock's bottom, the case is made in China; and the movement is made in China.The "silver" around the face is plastic as is the battery housing compartment (silver-colored plastic). It's cheap looking. Also, this clock is no longer available from Seth Thomas, so I wonder why it has been phased out? If I can find a German-made clock to have it shipped in time for Christmas, I will return this clock and order from another company.
