I was browsing a local retailer's electronics section and came across some Belkin smart outlets that were over $35 each. That was a little expensive for my taste, but the concept of remotely controlling whether my devices were on/off and saving energy in the process was definitely intriguing.When I got home, I decided to browse Amazon and found this Aimimami Wi-Fi Smart Outlet for under $20 shipped. I couldn't pass that up since it was so much cheaper than the competition. So far, I have been very pleased with my purchase.Positives:- Set-up and pairing is very simple. Takes less than 10 minutes before you are ready to go. Just make sure to have your Wi-Fi password handy.- The plug is small and doesn't overlap other outlets on the wall or on a surge protector.- The Android app is very easy to use and allows for scheduling and setting up a timer on the outlet.- The smart plug feels substantial and well-built. Although it is made of plastic, I have no doubts it will last a long time.Negatives:- No 5GHz support. This isn't a deal breaker, but 2.4GHz bands are used by lots of household products, which isn't ideal.- I wish it was squared or rectangular. The circular design is unique, but I am more traditional I guess.

As I build my smart home, which relies on my Amazon Echo, I've used a variety of plugs like these and they've all worked well. I like this plug; however, my only criticism is that there's little room for anything else in the outlet when this is plugged in due to its round size. Although this looks great, I'd recommend that they be square, not round.

Thought this was a good idea but all 3 did not function. Must have been a bad batch. Had to return.

Didn't work, crappy Chinese engineering. App wasn't the same as the brand. Couldn't connect.

Got two of these for Christmas.Easy to connect. I suggest you plug it in to an extension cord near your router, so you can have the unit in your hand.Next, I tried to set a light to go on and off daily. More of a challenge since the instructions are worthless.Basically, you need to set a schedule for "on" and ANOTHER for "off". Then check the days you need. Magic!I still don't know if my phone needs to be on for the unit to function, but so far so good.I tried to connect with my Amazon Echo, but I can't find any instructions. Point me to a decent link.

It does the job. But there is a lack of integration options possible.It worked with:- its own apps- amazon echoIt does not work with:- smartthings- ifftThe last one is surprising, because it is not related to the hardware but the connection on the vendor side with ifft.In conclusion, it is not expensive but not allowing much "smartness" in the house

I purchased two of these. One worked the other did not. I contacted the seller and had replies two times which made zero sense even after I explained again what was happening. I am not at all impressed with the support that I was given. I do have to say, the one that does work, works well. The other is still sitting in a box. I am just glad I did not spend a fortune for this.
