Grateful Paper Cut Thanksgiving Artist Book 2nd Ed Harvest Decorative Gift

I love watching how the fullness of Summer yields to bountiful Autumn, and it always inspires me to celebrate. Mixed media collage with its countless unique combinations of color, texture, and pattern are my way of capturing this exuberance. In my Thanksgiving mixed media artist book 2nd edition, fanciful paper-cut pumpkins bear Celtic spiral-like designs from the early La Tene period which to me are a metaphor for the ever repeating cycles of growing life-sustaining food. Each stage of the process is an opportunity to introduce different colors and textures that express positive, grateful emotion. I design or edit my own stencils from original drawings or clip art then hand cut each pumpkin and Celtic design from a variety of patterned papers. They are arranged on ink-decorated vintage botany textbook pages which have been decoratively trimmed and punched, and then embellished with buttons and free-motion stitching of an affirmation on a scrap of organza. The piece is finally backed by vibrantly colored frayed-edge polyester fabric. Each collage is 5" x 7" and is mounted on accordion-folded 24" x 8" acid-free 140# watercolor paper. The decorated front and back covers are made of hand textured mat board which adds nice support to the book when fully extended.
