Saved father in law from falling numerous times.
This alarm has helped us tremendously. If we didn’t have that my father in law would have fallen so many times. I have it set to one side since his bed is against the wall we only have to worry about him getting out on one side. OMG! He has dementia & keeps trying to get up. The problem is he is 94 years old withdementia, but more agile than I am until he actually stands on his legs. His legs are weak & give out when he stands on them. The thing is he can hold them up together in the air as long as he wants while you get him dressed. I can’t do leg lifts like that. So getting up isn’t his problem, but once he’s up those same legs can’t hold him up. The alarm goes off, we immediately look at the camera & there he is getting up. It gives us enough time to dash downstairs to stop him. I don’t know what we’d do without it. I bought it in anticipation of him moving in with us because he was getting out of bed both in the hospital & at rehab. Great product, easy to install, works just as advertised. It has more than one setting. I have it so he can turn & reposition himself without setting off the alarm, but the moment he sits up & tries to get out of bed it goes off. Oh & its loud, you don’t have to worry that you will sleep through it. Not only is it loud it vibrates on my nightstand.Update: We love this device so much we bought the matching chair alarm. You pair it to the same alarm box. We have noted that occasionally (twice since mid February) it will become unpaired. It’s easy to pair it back to the device in 5-10 seconds. You just have to be careful because if you don’t notice & it becomes unpaired it’s useless, it won’t alarm & alert you. I’m convinced my father in law would have fallen & hurt himself by now if it weren’t for the alarm. We have a baby monitor with a couple of cameras watching him so if the alarm goes off we can see what he’s doing & actually talk to him to see why is he trying to get up. This has allowed us to safely sleep at night.

Necessary for Peace of Mind
This device allows me to relax at night now that my elderly mother lives with us. It alerts me when she gets up in the middle of the night and also allows me to go outside and work in the flower beds at her naptimes. The range has been adequate for me to be as far as my neighbor's porch. I've not tested it beyond that . Installation is relatively easy (if you follow the directions in order.) This order was for a replacement for a pad we purchased in early 2014. It lasted about 18 months. The warranty pretty much warns you about this. I would be interested in learning if anyone's lasts longer.

HOW TO STOP FALSE ALARMS, BEST UNIT AVAILABLE!
After trying and returning several bed alarms. I found this unit to be the very best, but I would occasionally get false alarms. To stop the false alarms I opened the battery pouch on bed alarm pad. There is a small black wire that acts as the antenna to send the signal to handheld unit. Remove the wire and let it hang down outside the pouch and that should stop the false alarm. If you still get false alarms, strip the end of the antenna wire and splice in and add about 12 inches of a similar gauge wire. Leave the wire hanging outside of the pouch. close pouch back up and let wire hang down or tuck into the bed sheet. I leave mine hanging freely below the mattress. NO MORE false alarms! Also, make sure patient is not on edge of pad. Center patient on middle of the bed pad.

Best system we had in the last 5 years!
I work in a caregiving center and we have been using different bed alarms for the patients for the last 5 years (mostly Smart Caregiver ones) and I have to say that I am very impressed with the early alert technology. It is something that I never thought of having but it really is a game changer. Now we can get there before the patient tries to stand up, making it safer for them.Below you can find a list with the things that I like and things that could be improved:Pros:It is very easy to install in the bed and pair with the pager. The early alert system works really well, my patients feel happier now that i can manage to go there before they try to stand up (One of them had fallen from bed a couple of times when we didn't have this device). The pager has 2 different volume options (low and high) and a vibration only mode unlike the other ones. The pager is very small and light compared to others, it fits in my pocket and I can take it with me everywhere. The one from the other company is super bulky, so you can’t really take it with you.The pad is incontinence resistant and my patients find it comfortable.I didn’t experience any malfunctioning or false alarms yet, but I will update my review if I find any issue.Comes with all the batteries needed, even the ones for the pager which is not very common.I can connect 3 sensor pads to a single pager so it is very convenient.Cons:The pager came disassembled to meet the regulations, so I had to install the batteries and screw the back lid. It includes a mini screwdriver for that though. The wall mount sticker didn't stick on our wall for more than 2 months, maybe it is because of the humidity as we have it in the kitchen. It also comes with screws to permanently fix it to the wall so we ended up doing that.Once you have connected 3 pads to the pager, you can’t clear the pager’s memory of a single pad, so if I want to connect a different pad then I have to clear the whole memory and reconnect the previous pads.In conclusion, I am very pleased with the purchase. It is a reliable and high quality bed alarm and I would recommend it to any caregiver or anyone taking care of their loved ones. Smart Caregiver sensors and pagers feel outdated and from 10 years ago, when comparing them with the Early Alert from Lunderg.
