Does this pad actually keep you cool?

No it is hot!! No way cooling. Took it off after a month and sleeping much cooler. On the search for a new cooling one myself.

As a side sleeper, my current mattress is killing my hips......is this pad thick enough to offer good cushioning?

I bought this after seeing the product dimensions of 11.81 x 7.87 x 3.94 inches, and reading about sinking into a more luxurious pad. I wish I had read more on this particular question. It is a nice mattress pad, but that is it. It is at most a half inch thick and there is nothing to sink into. I am returning it, because I wanted to replace our "pillow-top" mattress pad that still has more padding that this one, even in the long-time depressed places and still has 3 inches in the non-depressed places. Still...a nice mattress pad, but not what I thought I was buying.

My husband gets so hot he will sweat at night. Will this topper be able to help keep him cool?

It definitely won't make him sweat more. I've found that besides the comfort my husband and I are quite comfortable temperature wise. I've had the problem with night sweats and since putting this on our bed it's been great!

I am concerned about the "waterproof" feature -Does this crinkle or rattle when you move?

I have not tested the waterproof feature. No crinkle or rattle. I like the cover and would recommend.
