not great. but highly recommended!!
This will be a confusing review. this was a test for me (74 years old and always loved violin). at $39, i expected nothing. i expected it to be a learning curve. string tightening was a problem like everyone said. one string came unhooked from its spindle. one string broke. the bridge flipped out every now and then.BUT. i finally got two clear sharp notes with the remaining strings (lots of resin is important). the learning that i got was absolutely invaluable. now i'm going to go look for something a little better and a little more expensive. this has enough problems that it should be considered a learning experience. if you get lucky and it all stays together, then good for you. Otherwise, realize that it is an absolute ground zero device to learn from. It's a terrible little violin but i will always cherish it for letting me take the next step.i love the little guy.

Waste of money
Terrible! Just don’t waste your money! After experiencing all the issues everyone mentions including the bridge snapping off and tuning issues, I bought one somewhere else. You can go to most places that rent them out and ask to buy an old dinghy rental one and they can give you a great deal and it’ll be quality!

Good starter violin
I’m a beginner, and this violin is a good value for the price. It looks great and comes with all the essentials. One string did break while tuning, and the pegs were a bit stiff, but it sounds nice once everything’s set up. Perfect for learning

Take a little fine adjusting and a bow.
The tone and volume of this bargain instrument is good. It's sturdy enough but you're not done when it arrives. The bridge included fits fine. The bow is not gonna get you there. Better order a bow with real horse hair. The one included doesn't want to take to the rosin included or any rosins that I use. Maybe it's synthetic bow hair material because I can't get it to work. So,,, buy a bow if you don't have one (I'm using one of my inexpensive bows).I adjusted the spacing of the strings at the Nut (at the peg end) with a small triangle file and a set of, "torch nozzle cleaners" (little round files) that are sold at any hardware store maybe under $5.The neck is very slightly crooked but not very noticeable and not enough to make a difference in playing. Finally, if you have a friend with a peg hole reamer have him/her gently ream the peg holes very slightly if needed. I think it will work just fine without bothering with this but I did it just to have them look a little better.I'm very happy with this instrument and will use it as a travel violin. I did the same thing for a trip to Europe then donated it to a music program at our local high school. I think I'll keep this one for travel involving motel stays (with a good mute). It has a bright tone with good volume for the price. I think three stars is pretty good for a $35 violin.

You get what you pay for.
It’s worth buying a real violin. This is a violin shaped object. The actual “violin” holds up, but multiple bow hairs at a time constantly fall out. Would not recommend for anything other than a prop.

Money's worth for Beginner's
Love the helpful tips that came with! Like most new string instruments, the strings take a little bit of time to let them stretch into making tuning easier. They can pop out easily but are also very easy to fix. It is a great way to get attuned to taking care of a violin. I highly recommend it for beginners or those on a budget. The case is a good quality, it can handle some wear and tear from daily use and more. Is it the quality of some of the higher priced ones? Not at all, however you do get your money's worth and then some. I do recommend being patient with it because it definitely takes some work to maintain it, but it is worth it's price.
