Pleasantly surprised by how great this laptop is!
Wasn't my first choice of laptop, but absolutely blown away with how efficient and ergonomic it is. Everything I could want in a laptop, so so pleased! Great battery life, quiet, keeps cool, super light and sleek, uncluttered desktop. Love it!

Build quality is not reflective of the price
I know my review may seem petty at first, but dell markets their xps line as a premium laptop. I must say i haven't been impressed with it so far, firstly the build quality is sub par compared to the likes of apples MacBook. with my laptops screen not closing seamlessly and one the the screws on the bottom of my laptop being rounded; but most importantly the base casing of the laptop appears to be bulging where the battery normally is, making me believe the battery is already expanding not even a month of use. To charge prices of over £1000 for a laptop with the same build quality of a budget laptop is egregious.Secondly the performance of the laptop isn't worth the price either, everytime i open my laptop it takes ages to boot up even if i haven't shut it down, the load time of opening apps and webpages is also slow. I am appalled as someone who came from a late 2015 MacBook pro i can confidently say the dells xps 13 was not the upgrade i wanted, with a worse build quality and performance comparable to my old MacBook the dell xps line is not worth your money.

Lack of ports and Unmarked Touchpad make this irritating for use either on the move or at desk
The touchpad has no marking to indicate its shape and boundaries. As a result, when I'm on the move I often find it isnt responding as I intend because it's not clear where to put my fingers. When I'm at my desk I need to connect a monitor (to give a second and bigger display) which uses up one USB port. I also want to connect wireless keyboard, mouse, headset and webcam (so that I dont have to look at the small screen in meetings) and power cable. But there's only one other USB port!! There doesnt seem to be a compatible docking station, just a fragile plastic hub, which as many reviewers point out has far too short a connecting cable so that it tends to dangle from the PC which will probably over time distort the port. When plugging the power cable into the hub, it only maintains battery level, it doesnt charge properly. Also I find that the charger interferes with the video webcam and headset sound so that they are distorted, when they are all passed through the hub. These shortcomings seem so unnecessary - poor design compromising function. I really regret purchasing it. I would recommend thinking carefully about your intended uses before purchasing.

Unreliable product, useless warranty and terrible customer service
I bought this product well in advance of Christmas to give to my daughter. When she opened her very expensive gifts it failed immediately. The battery would not hold a charge even though it said it was 95% charged. We contacted Dell tech support. The process is tedious you need to complete frustrating diagnostic reports even when the issue is obvious. When they eventually agreed that the issue was the battery they refused to provide a direct replacement laptop because the product was bought more than 30 days previously. I explained it was an out of the box issue and was told very firmly that the only option was a repair. By now I have wasted hours of time running diagnostics waiting for callbacks that never happened and then even having to chase the engineer appointment and my daughter not only has had no laptop for school but also now has a faulty product that may well fail again. The manager who eventually called me did not listen or show any care for the situation. My advice choose a manufacturer who has cares about their customer and takes responsibility for an out of the box failure! And if you do choose Dell please do a full check as soon as it arrives because you can’t trust that it will function even when you have paid over £1000!
