Well designed,. Better than expected
Very nice, comfortable, quality bench. Relatively sturdy considering it built of tubes. It serves my needs as perfectly as possible. As advertised & better than expected. I have a roman tub & standard size bench is perfect for my bath area. However rail height is quite close to clearance of R tub edge...abt 1". Any higher is too high for me & feet won't touch ground. Easy assembly w/push button and click in tube holss. No tools needed. Everything locks in place as promised. The levers work well for my weak hands to slide & rotate seat. I also ordered the extra length bench for size/space comparisons but, the XL wasn't necessary so it was returned -UNUSED- for full refund. Called company ...they have leg extensions if you must raise bench for higher clearance of tub edge to outside. but, then, you'll need a foot stool as seat will be extra high. Overall, this was a big winner in my book!

easy to use, fits in small space
I purchased this transfer bench for my mom and she has been it for about 3 weeks. She is very pleased with the ease of use and most of all, allowing her to bathe safely without assistance. Assembly is very easy, no tools needed. The weight is about 18 pounds and the box is approximately 29" x 17" x 9". The horizontal bars go through the seat bottom which comes attached to the rotational hardware. The seat back and legs are easily attached. I forgot how the mounting bracket attaches to the seat or if it came already attached. The legs are adjustable and the large rubber feet are angled to fit the slight slope of the bottom of the tub. The mounting bracket saves a bit of floor space over the model with 4 legs (2 legs inside tub, 2 outside.) The Velcro strap isn't needed at this time but there isn't a way to remove it without disassembling the rotational hardware or cutting it off. It is very securely in place and may be needed in the future. To keep it out of the way, it is wrapped behind the back of the seat. There are red tabs on the left and right side of the seat. When a red tab is pressed, it pushes the spring button through a hole in the tubing and allows the seat to slide to the left or right. There is a red lever in the center that is pressed to release the rotational lock. When the seat is rotated 90 degrees from the position in the photo, there is a support bar which is part of the frame. An accessory handle that attaches to the side of the seat (item 31780) is available but my mom has not found it necessary to purchase one. The max. tub wall width specification is 5.75" so I was concerned about the mounting bracket being too small because of contours on the outer side of her 5.75" wide tub wall, making it difficult to get an exact width measurement. The bracket is made of two pieces and the screw adjustment allows expansion to about 6.25". With the included adhesive rubber grip pads (about 1/8" thick) that you apply to the under sides of the bracket, it barely fits over the tub wall but you can still slide it along the tub wall it can still be tightened securely. The x-short seat is 16" wide and because of the wide tub wall, the right edge of the seat is only about 0.5" from the inside edge of the tub when the seat is rotated and locked in place (in the product photo, the seat would be rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise and facing the right side of the tub.) I might buy a curved shower curtain rod so there is more space between the seat and shower curtain. If we had purchased the regular size bench with approximate 20" wide seat, I think the right edge of the seat would be over the top of the tub wall when rotated and locked in place so water might flow over the edge of the tub and onto the floor. I don't think seat width would be an issue if the tub wall was thinner. Since my mom is small, the x-short bench works out very well in the small 29" of space between the bathroom wall and the toilet, the only position where this transfer bench can be located. In 3 weeks, there haven't been any problems with assembly or use of this product and it makes my mom's life much easier. It is also safer for my dad to sit in the shower, reducing the risk of falling and possible injuries. I wish I had purchased this transfer bench a long time ago.

It works good now...
Easy to assemble. Slides and swivels easily. It does have a tendency to catch underneath. I had to trim with a dremel. It works better now. It is much safer to get in and out of the tub with this now.

Well Spent Money
This Seat although not quite like the picture, is extremely well constructed and a pleasure to use. Pop, who is going on 91, and finally became unable to get around well can use this easily. It is comfortable as well as smooth operating. Heavily built, easy to assemble and install. Should hold up nicely. BTW it will easily hold a Very Large Heavy person (me). Well worth the money especially compared to many of the others. Do yourself a favor. Don't!!! buy one of the plastic seats that go over the tub side. Water EVERYWHERE and no stopping it! Always in the way. Get this for even a small bathroom like ours and it's just fine. As stated by someone else, cut the shower curtain to fit over the rails and it's all perfect! No water and easy use. Again Well worth the money! "UPDATE" After some time using this I must comment that we are extremely satisfied with it. I have be asked about removing this between uses. That would not really be a practical approach. I originally thought of that as an option but on use quickly forgot it. It probably could be done but it is heavy and hard to move around. Now as to the need for that, not likely as long as you are going to shower. There is ample room in the tub with this for me and I am rather a large person. Kids could likely sit in front of it or on it for that matter. The seat slides on the rails and comes to the outside edge of the tub. There are button locks to prevent the seat moving by accident. You can sit easily on the seat and then slide in. It moves very smoothly from side to side and the seat even swivels if necessary. It is very sturdy and sits completely inside the tub and not out into the bathroom. Cutting the curtain is for the two tubes that the seat slides on just two slits so the curtain can drape between them. They come to the outside edge of the tub and sit on the clamp frame that fastens to the tub wall, rubber mats protect the tub face. There is nothing out into the room. Our bath is as small as any I have ever seen and this works fine. The room is very narrow just enough room to walk past the tub. This fastens well and is very sturdy and has a reasonable amount of adjustment. For most standard tubs it should be a fine fit. Unless you have something vastly different this should fit the bill well. Hope this answers most questions.
