Great idea!
I've never been fond of choke collars, having to use one on my neighbor's Newfie when we'd walk. When I adopted my 14 mo German Shepard, she was not polished on leash, and had no respect for the basic collar and leash. I had observed an all nylon version of this martingale on my dog when her 'foster mom' brought her to the GSD rescue for me to meet. I forgot to ask her about her collar and searched the internet for training collars. Voila!I have this fitted to my dog so that if she pulls it will not choke her but at the same time she CANNOT 'slip' this collar; but I can still slip it over her head on and off as I need it. She's much more respectful of this collar but still needs alot of work. This combined w/the Easy Walk harness (my go to for situations that I know will excite her beyond her having the capability to 'hear' me at this stage in her training) has made our walks much more relaxing and enjoyable for the both of us.I have recommended this to a number of people, one of which is a horse trainer that hadn't seen it before, recognized the value of the principle of this right away, and had me show it to his wife, also quite the accomplished horse handler.

Love the width, weight, chain, sturdiness
I have English Bulldogs with big fat necks, necks bigger than there heads, so regular collars do not work. I like these because of the chain, the other martingales, just do not release quick enough, they may release quick 10 times, but it is always when your not looking that they do not. With bulldogs, or any dogs, that they release immediately, you do not want to keep choking your dog. Also because they big necks, they are always wide collars, I like that these are nice and light, but sturdy enough. Again for bulldogs or any dog that the thick collars are not cutting in to them if left on while they are relaxing. So I love the size, width, chain, sturdiness and weight of these collars. Just wish they made them with more colors, patterns, more decorative, I look at the other collars and wish I could use them, that said I like the pink, turquoise and lavender. Oh Yea, I love the price, have bought lots of them for my dogs and as gifts, plan on buying more, I do not leave them on all the time and hate spending time looking for them,

Collar is o.k. but my need was not met
The collar is fine; it fits well but does not control the dog as much as I had hoped. I have a collie who is very strong and loves to chase squirrels and she is very quick and will pull me off my feet if I do not see the squirrel first. I had her on a prong collar and was hoping the martingale would do the same but more gently. She is still able to lunge quickly and pull me too much as I also have another collie, who is very well behaved and a lab mix a year and half who is also very strong and wants to follow her so I need to have her contained better. She is a rescue who has not been taught manners or obedience and I had hoped this would help.

I like the metal chain part, chew proof.
I have a Min Pin who has a skinny neck and escapes everything. His neck is about 13 inches around but at the time I bought this, I accidentally got the 16-24 inch. I just went through with it and managed to tighten it as far as it can go (all the way to the two metal D shaped rings that hold the chain). When it's uh..."resting", it's slightly loose and looks as if he could slip out. However, this collar does its job, which is tightening when the dog pulls forwards or backwards (pulling backwards was my main problem). So it fills in the slightly loose gaps. It hasn't slipped off just yet. Also, I like the metal chain part, it's chew proof. I know that if that part was just the same material as the rest of the collar, it'd be chewed up.

Finally found one that fits!
I've been looking for a semi-choke collar for my medium-sized dog for ages! Every pet store I've been to seems to only have them for small dogs and for big dogs with no size in betwixt the two. Other than the sizing, the collar seems pretty much like any other: humdrum. In my experience, you'll only need to buy your dog two collars: one when they're a puppy and one when they're an adult. This collar is not an exception, it should last for the rest of your (and your dog's) life. If you're having issues with finding the right size collar for your dog, just measure their neck with a tailor's tape measure and add about an inch or two to that. Then, use the guidelines in the product description to find the right size. You can't go wrong with this collar.Pros:- Detailed sizing information.- Seems Durable.- Semi-choke design.Cons:- None

Great collar!
We needed something to help control, train, and tie out (with supervision) our year-old husky. This is a perfect solution...she doesn't pull anywhere near as much as she did and our eleven-year-old can take her on walks now. It's also excellent for tying out so long as we're able to keep half an eye on her--but we are of the opinion that any dog tied out should be monitored. She had been chewing through harnesses while tied previously, but now she is content to just hang out and gnaw on a bone. If she pulls, the collar reminds her she's not going anywhere. Excellent purchase and I'll probably order another just to have a second one on hand.

Still Not Fixed
Collar arrived with twist in chain as shown in a photo posted by another customer about a year ago. Apparently nothing is being done to solve the problem. Have never had to return anything to Amazon but today I had two items arrive and both items were defective. The other item is a phone car charger. I hope this is not a new business model.

This collar was exactly what I was looking for. ...
This collar was exactly what I was looking for. It fits my puppy well and gives me just the right amount of control when walking him. Unfortunately I will not be able to use the collar and any longer. My puppy is white and the chain on the collar has rubbed a gray ring around his neck :(
