Great value and performance (renewed laptop)
I bought this laptop with 'acceptable damage' - it was half the price of a new one. The damage was minor - a dent on one corner...yes that means the laptop took a hit or fall...but it works perfectly! So I would definitely encourage you to consider the renewed option. Otherwise, its a great machine - quick to start, handles multi-tasking well (tho you can hear the fan dealing with the challenge, but its not particularly loud or distracting). The screen is bright. Decent speakers. The only thing I am not a fan of it the keyboard. I prefer the slicker keypads around that are flush/bevelled and quieter...but thats only personal preference...for £354, this was a steal!

superb laptop
It is very quick, easy to set up and very good value. The quality of the images is exceptional, I am so pleased with the performance and the quality. It was very easy to set the computer up and to start using. I am really pleased with this purchase.

Good Laptop Let Down by Cheap Plastic Body
Bought to be used for office work, internet browsing and some low level strategy gaming and it does all this with ease. Start up is ridiculously fast and so far all programs are very responsive. The display is superb for work purposes but I wouldn`t class it as "ground breaking" when watching a streaming service. Its "not great - not terrible" to coin a phrase. The sound isn`t bad for a laptop but I do smile at the embossed "SonicMaster" logo on the front :) I have no issues with the keyboard. Its responsive and feels just about right when typing away. As for the body. Cheap, thin plastic. I wasn`t expecting much at this price but it really lets the whole thing down and makes me wince every time I close the laptop and put it in the bag as I`m worried I will damage it. Battery life isn`t great. I`m getting about 4 hours. If you are considering this laptop be aware that it does not have an ethernet port so its wi-fi or nothing :) Its an okay entry-level laptop for basic office work, low level casual gaming and the odd movie or two. Just be gentle with it!

Good piece if kit
I bough it for my niece. It definitely has the power as specified. It was easy to set up. The battery holds for quite a while. The storage is great for pictures and the sound is amazing. The speed is good.

Brilliant Laptop
This is quite possibly the best laptop I've ever owned. It's fast, really fast. The battery life isn't fantastic but if you change the power mode when it's not plugged in it lasts a few hours. I left it on high performance and I got about an hour and a half out of it. I tend to leave it plugged in for the majority of the time though.

Does everything I need it to
I bought this as a work laptop. I'm finding everything fine. As another reviewer mentions, the keyboard keys don't go very deep when depressed, but this might be a feature of all newer laptops. My 2014 Dell Latitude has a deeper key press (more spongey feel to the keyboard). I compared this laptop to others and it was the best value given the 16GB of RAM. It runs great with the i5. No intention of using this for gaming so can't comment on that. The screen is sharp and the MyAsus thing enables you to reduce the blue light by up to 30%, then there's also the blue light filter on Windows 11. I installed Google Chrome as it was too cumbersome transferring all my bookmarks from Chrome on another PC to Edge on this laptop. The only improvement I can see are the speakers, though if you want premium audio like B&O then get an HP. This Asus does everything I need it to and it handles applications with ease. It also feels light at 1.8kg I think. My old Latitude was 2.3kg and it was a 14" one!

New and Decent Laptop under £500
Good, impressed so far, don’t know how long it will last, but have a year’s warranty and for what I need with adequate RAM, CPU speed and Disk storage… had an ASUS bought for my son a few years back and it lasted all through UNI so I can recommend the brand! All good

Overall a decent machine
I am glad that I chose to update to Windows 11, I know the fuss about it all but I find it good to use. And this laptop is a decent machine to use, despite my only giving 3 stars. By grumble, and not specific to this particular laptop, is the use of SSD instead of HDD. I know it's progress but I find that one thing I am always doing it to make sure that I don't actually download to much to the laptop. I had an Acer before this with a 2TB HDD, where as this laptops storage is miniscule in comparison so I don't have much stuff stored on it if possible. The Ram is fine 8GB but with a desktop also have a large HDD. This Asus is a little hard to come to terms with, I could attach and external HDD by USB, which would help. I am probably being a little unfair with the 3 stars as technology moves on and I have to get used to it. It took me a while to get used to the loss of floppy discs CD's are redundant as everything is in the 'Cloud' something else I have to come to terms with. In fact I have just realised that the niggles that I have to get used to are nothing to do with this laptop. On reflection 4 stars would be fairer as its just the inevitable technical change that many other consumer items have endured. Compared to my older gear the Asus starts quicker, responds quicker and up to now I am getting regular updates to hardware and software. Yes 4 stars is a lot fairer.
