How does it work when a square edge casing is close to the barrel of the hinge?

I haven't used it on anything but steel jamb doors that slide over the drywall. I have many that are masonry openings also. You need about a half inch clearance around the barrel of the hinge. The pipe on the ends of the Tweaker is at least 1/4 of an inch thick. It has to slide completely over the barrel so if the hinge. So if your trim is right up against the barrel of the hinge its not going to work. Every hinge I've tweaked was to make the gap on the strike side larger to stop the door from rubbing. When you tweak the hinge to stop a door from rubbing you are pressing toward the center of the door not away from the door on the hinge side toward a wall. My Tweaker paid for itself in about 10 minutes. Before I bought it I was taking top hinges off and putting them in a vise to re swage them. Do that a couple of times and you will buy a Tweaker really quick. I have over a hundred doors here.

Will this work with door frames that are close to a perpendicular wall? (meaning how much clearance do you need when bending "away" from the door?)

Yes it will work. Hinge Tweaker tool does not require any clearance from a perpendicular wall since the tool is applied to a hinge with slight tilt toward door knob/lever side of the door and then pushed slightly toward a wall. Thus it requires no clearance from a wall. Hope this clarifies your question.

Can you bend 4.5x4.5 ball bearing hinges with this?

Hinge Tweaker's barrel height is 4.5 inch so it should be able to fit as long as your commercial door hinge's sheet metal gauge is either .134 (.1406 inches or 3.57 mm) or .180 ( .1845 inches or 4.76 mm) thick. Absolutely Essential

If you have any part of the maintenance or installation of access control systems, this tool is absolutely essential. I went with the dual Hinge Tweaker, rather than the two individual sizes, and that seems to be the right call for my needs.

This tool really works!!!

I have a 47,000 square foot building I manage. There are probably 200 doors with heavy duty commercial hinges. In an hour I fixed the problem with about 30 of them. It seems every door I walked by needed to be tweaked. These doors have been hanging 22 years and most of them have closers. Either the people who originally installed the doors didn't have a tweaker or the closers eventually had an effect on the top hinge. I used to have to take hinges off and bend them in a vise. This tool easily paid for itself in a half hour. A door guy I use occasionally told me about this tool and I should have got it years ago. Easily one of the best tools I've ever bought.

Worth every penny

I bought this for a 30 year old hotel. We had numerous doors that would not close properly which was starting to become a safety issue. This fantastic tool changed everything! All of our doors now close with ease. Super easy to use and well worth the money spent.

Great Gap Fixer for fire doors.

Great tool only complaint is the price. seems high for all this is. It works well and I like that is does both HD and Standard hinges would recommend to any Maintenance Department.

Well made tool!

The reason I like and bought this item is it has a strong bar welded onto the working ends. This makes using the hinge tweaker easy to use. I am working on commercial/industrial doors and hinges and this tool works great on them. The funny thing is no one at work knew what the tool was. A "Hinge Tweaker" sounds like a new drink at a stylish bar!

Should bought this a long time ago, insanely easy to fix rubbing doors. Just dont be stupid and over do it. My 8 year old boy can fix some of the commercial doors

Must have tool

If your in the door adjusting business, this is a must have tool. Why? because your customers don't have one and you'll look more professional than just bending hinges with a wrench or shimming. This is easy to use and instantly fixes the problem
