Wish there were MORE a series!
My now 9 yr old boy has struggled with reading, consistently scoring low on national tests. I suspect he is dyslexic, the school gives him extra help, but he didn't start really improving until I decided I was going to teach him one way or another! I kept trying to find books that are written for his age group that aren't baby books written for younger kids. This fit thr bill. The font size and "dyslexic" font style . Has made all the difference in his willingness to read. It has decodable words, but I don't think my grandson is doing much phonetically (sounding out) I'm pretty sure he is memorizing. If anyone else has any idea on similar books I'm going to keep checking reviews on here hoping other books show up. I even contacted scholastic book services for dyslexic font books similar to this one. They couldn't come up with ANYTHING to help! We are started the "trapped in a video game" by Dustin Brady series now. It is similar in font and size so anyone looking for more id recommend. Please author make this D.A.R.E book a series!!! My boy is 9 in 3rd grade.

This was my son's first chapter book (10 chapters). The dyslexia style was perfect for him.
This was my son's first chapter book (10 chapters). The dyslexia style was perfect for him (8) and myself (54) too. We are both dyslexic. The font style was a bit odd a first. But the major difference was the larger spacing between the sentences and then even larger spaces between the paragraphs. The story was pretty good, and kept his attention. He was really proud of himself when he finished is 1st chapter book, which he thought there would be NO WAY he could do it.My only wish is that whey would have put in a few more pictures to help with him imagining. I think there was only about really only one per chapter.

Readable mystery for struggling readers at elem level
As a special Ed teacher I like the format (spacing, paragraph lengths) for my students. The intro to each character was a little long for them.
