Review: My son says this gets A MILLION STARS - This is a cute little book, and my kids (11 and 8) really enjoyed it. They're already Marvel fans, so the characters need no introduction for them. The premise is that Norse gods Odin and Frigga take their young sons, Thor and Loki, on a vacation to Midgard (Earth), which is one of the Nine Realms they can visit using Bifrost the rainbow bridge. Of course, with two high-spirited magical children, wacky hijinks ensue. Like Jeffery Brown's other books (such as Darth Vader and Son), this book is a series of one-page color comics, each depicting a humorous scene of family life. There's no linear storyline, just a series of vignettes. Loki uses his illusions to beat Thor at video games and change the ending of the bedtime story. Thor uses his lightning power to pop popcorn and recharge his mom's phone. Kid versions of other Marvel characters show up too - for example, kid Hulk holds Loki upside-down by the leg, and Thor angrily retorts, "Hey! The only one allowed to smash my brother is ME!" The setting alternates between Midgard and Asgard, so perhaps the Odinsons visited Earth multiple times. For example, in one panel, Thor and Loki are trying to board a Midgardian school bus, but the driver won't let Loki on because he's shape-shifted into an alligator. In another panel, Thor, Loki, and Sif have gone to visit Surtur's fiery lair underneath Asgard, but it's just because they want to toast marshmallows! I would give this book 4.5 stars if I could. I loved the concept, and the childlike art is well-done and appealing. Some of the punchlines didn't quite land for me, or else they went over my head. There are a few obscure characters I'd never heard of, like Angela and Ratatoskr the horned squirrel messenger god. But most of the cartoons warranted a chuckle or at least a warm smile. I asked my son how many stars he would give "Thor and Loki: Midgard Family Mayhem." He said "A MILLION!" It was one of the few books we took on a 2-week vacation recently, and I think he read it at least once a day every day. Jeffrey Brown, we need ANOTHER!

Read this book
very good book. Love the way it is drawn. Comics are easy to understand, and are funny to read. Can’t stop reading over and over again. appreciate all the hard work put into this book.
