Strong flexible mount
The media could not be loaded. The item came in padding inside the Amazon padded envelope. The long arm was coiled in a loop inside the packaging. I was surprised at how much force was needed to straighten out the flex conduit which is sealed with what I believe is heat shrink tubing.Overall, the quality of the build is better than what I expecting.I scored Versatility at 4 stars because the screw for mounting is fixed and to get a tight fit you have to really take it out of the ball joint. While the knurled disk provides additional final tightening, it isn't a knurled thumbscrew as you find with most camera mount which let you place the camera and then tighten. Also, the clamp's bottom screw is capped with a round disk which limits clamping to small tabletop overhangs. But it works and almost all others have that round clamping disk. I may have to make something to match the top part of the clamp which appears to be of high quality. It even has padded felt to avoid marring the tabletop.

Works perfectly- if you know what you are doing.
This device works exactly as intended, but... It's a mechanical device. If you don't know how to handle mechanical devices then you may have problems. You need to grab it with TWO hands. You need to muscle it into place while offering strain relief to the base. How do you do this? I can't help you here. Just find someone who has an understanding of working with mechanical devices that are not idiot proof. So, when you drop your iphone do you give it a 1 star rating because the glass broke??? Well, maybe you should. All I can say, that if handled properly, this device works perfectly. You can safely ignore all the 1 star ratings unless you think you can just grab this thing and shove it into position- it needs to be finessed. If you don't understand what I am saying you can just practice with a piece of stiff wire as I did when I was 8 years old. Are you smarter than an 8 year old? Good- then you should be able to figure it out. Just don't blame the device if you fail.

I like it so far.
This is designed to be used with lightweight cameras, but I wanted to try it for my Digital SLR, knowing my camera might be too heavy for it (This is my own risk, and I take responsibility for it). Anyway, it seems to work fine, though I will be careful, since it's somewhat of an "off label" use. The cable is very sturdy and the fact that it requires some effort to bend is a good thing--that means it'll hold your camera steady, in the position you want, without "wilting like a dying flower". The ball head joint is flexible and designed for a lighter camera (as the label says), and I can get it to work with my DSLR as long as I position the head and cable angle well enough to prevent any drooping due to the weight of my camera. So although this is designed for webcams, I am happy with how it is working for my DSLR. I would not recommend it for heavy DSLRs with long lens-- I think it would be too much weight. I have a Nikon D3400, to give you an idea of the weight of my camera. The only thing I modified was the clamp. I epoxied a piece of neoprene rubber to the circular part of the metal clamp so it won't dent whatever it is clamped to. If you try this cable for a DSLR, I suggest putting a pad on the table under the camera until you are absolutely 100% sure this will hold your camera. I have not had this cable long enough to determine it's longevity but so far, I like it.

Much better than a tripod
I had a mini-desktop tripod that I used to mount my webcam to since I wanted it at eye level and not shooting down from the top of my external monitor.Problem was that it took up a bit of space on my desktop.Finding this arm was great as I can mount it from the back of my desk and bend it up in front of my monitor to get a great angle, while still being able to see the monitor since the arm is so thin. Then, when I don't need to use it, I can swing it out of the way.Only downside is that the mounting head is a swivel that can move in all directions, so getting the camera parallel to the ground can be a bit finnicky at times.Otherwise, it's perfect!

Arm good, mount cheap. Useful for positioning and leaving there, not for moving in and out of way.
-1 star: poor quality camera mount.Feels like it would take nothing at all to break this. It feels like a more brittle type of plastic, I wouldn't even think of taking it outside in cold weather, say if you wanted to clamp it to a porch rail to record something outsid.e-1 star : hard to position w/out pushing clamp off of whatever you have it clamped to.I hoped to use this when I'm recording training, but then move it out of the way the other 38 hours a week I don't need that camera. The arm is VERY stiff, which while some people think that's bad, I think it's good because it means it can hold my phone, not just a little web cam. Heck, I may even try it with my DSLR, although I think that may push it a little much. For me, I'd be ok with very stiff, hard to move arm b/c that's a trade off. However, there should be more ability to swivel where the arm attaches to the clamp so you can at least rotate it out of the way. It's very tight and when I try to do that, I end up needing to grab the clamp and hold it. Otherwise, the arm is stronger than the grip of the clamp and you end up moving the clamp off of what it's attached to.It's ok for me b/c I have it clamped to the side of the desk and can grab the bottom with one hand while moving the top, but if you're clamping it to a less accessible spot, it will mean leave the camera where it stays.

Perfect for my needs!
This webcam mount literally came in about an hour ago. Took about a minute or so to set it up and get it working and I was back into my workflow, no problems. Not really sure what the complaints were about unless there was a different version offered before, but this thing is stiff!! Mounted to my desk, no problem, mounted my Logitech c920, no problem! I set it where I wanted it and it does NOT move. This is great if you are using multiple monitors (in my case 2 - 32" monitors) and need a place to put the cam so that it isn't sitting up too high. I would not try to put a large SLR or anything like that as it probably won't hold, but again, the title says "WEBCAM". Very happy and I recommend this product!
