Lets get this out of the way first- This isn't an optically perfect lens. Far from it. Wide open, this lens produces a somewhat soft and hazy picture that I'm sure some people will be put off from. If you want optical perfection, this isn't the lens for you.THAT BEING SAID- I love this lens. For one, it's the cheapest new lens (I think) that you can buy for the Fuji X mount. That alone gives it a lot of leeway to misbehave a bit, in my book. It's built of metal and feels good to use- the focus ring is well dampened and the clicked aperture is ideal for still photography. Not being a video shooter, I vastly prefer this over declicked apertures.The image quality, for all its flaws, provides what I find to be a pleasing character. It's not perfect for everything, but this is a lens that begs to be shot wide open at contrasty night scenes in the city. It's wide open characteristics are similar to using a slight diffusion filter. Considering that a good diffusion filter costs almost as much as this lens (Or more, if you splurge on the best filters you can buy), I treat this lens more as a special purpose tool than something to use for every occasion.That character disappears quickly when you stop down, becoming a very sharp lens very quickly. The diffuse look disappears almost completely after the first click down, so you don't need to use it all the time and still have a fast 2.8 aperture without the haze. It's also very small, and pairs well with my X-M1 as a setup that can get tossed in my shoulder bag without a second thought. It's a very fun lens, and if you aren't expecting the level of optical precision that Fuji lenses often strive for, this is a fantastic lens for the money.

Paired this lens with my Fuji XT2 on our trip to Rome. The lens produced some incredible images for its budget price. Obviously its not gonna be as sharp as a Fujinon lens but plenty sharp from f2.8-4 for my needs. Focus and aperture rings are smooth and tactile. The all metal construction adds some weight but feels very balanced when mounted. It's compact, almost pancake size, allowed me to carry it in a small sling bag for quick street photography.

It seems while other people have had copy variance issues, my copy of this lens focuses correctly when set to infinity focus and is pretty damn sharp wide open considering what it is and it's price. There is a quite heavy vignette wide open at f/2 and the image can get pretty easily washed out from strong light sources in, or just outside of the frame (though this gets slightly better as you stop down). F/4 is a sweet spot in terms of sharpness and overall image for subject photography with some background separation. Unfortunately, it doesn't make for a very good landscape lens at all due to the corners of the image frame being blurry, even stopped down to f/8, and there is some somewhat noticable barrel distortion if you have straight lines in your frame.Fortunately, there isn't a strong color cast, though colors need a little bit of booting either in post or in camera. I find the build quality to be fine considering how small it is. It is true that the aperture ring is very thin and close to the focus ring, but I personally got used to it rather quickly. I initially accidentally ordered a Sony mount version of this lens, which had a feeling of grinding as I turned the focus ring, but the Fuji X version that I now have has no such issue and there is an adequate amount of resistance in the focus ring. Again, I suspect it to be a copy variance thing.Overall, an enjoyable and small little walk around lens if you aren't necessarily looking to do portfolio work or you're okay with stopping down quite a bit for optimal results, and even then stilly having blurry image corners. It makes my X-E1 like an interchangeable-lens X100. You need to remember that you're literally paying $64 for the lens so you should manage your expectations and keep them reasonable.

I’m blown away by how good this lens is for the price. The manual focus can be tricky at first, but I find that it’s made me enjoy going out and taking photos more. Also the compact size has encouraged me to carry my camera around more since I can fit my camera and lens into a big pocket, if needed. I’m so impressed by this lens I recently purchased the 27mm with autofocus as well. If you’re looking for a compact lens on a budget and aren’t afraid to tackle manual focusing, this is a great buy.

it's not bad for the price. lacks in sharpness but, the quality is still there. it functions well + it also fits modernly. very sleek and nice as far as design goes. i'd say it's durable as I have dropped this many times + i still keep it as a "just incase" lens. it has a fixed lens so you aren't able to adjust by zooming in and out but, for a beginner - you'd fall in love!

Bought this lens to go onto a Fujifilm X-T10 after watching YouTube review. Search YouTube for review, It will tell you more than I can. But, I can say I haven’t been disappointed. Small lens helps turn small camera into a pocket camera. Manual focus, of course.
