This sprayer works well. The amount in the bottle is good for many days' use for a family. I was really impressed that there is no sticky or tacky residue, and it absorbs quickly and absorbs well. It is NOT oily, either. It has a thin lotion consistency and look. It doesn't irritate my skin at all. Doesn't sting or tingle when you apply it, as i have experienced with the chemical bug sprays.So, it works better than using nothing, but these types of ingredients need to be frequently re-applied. Studies by Consumer Reports rating some of these ingredients found that you need a formulation with a much higher concentration of the natural ingredients that work than this product has. And the CDC doesn't actually recommend citronella as a mosquito repellant because it's not reliably effective.So, if you are going out for a walk after dinner in the forest, and you will only be out an hour, and you need this on your hands and ankles, it helps you get less bites than using nothing at all. If you are camping, will be outside all day and evening, wearing shorts, and you're sensitive to bug bites/prone to getting mosquito bites, this helps cut down on the number of bites, but isn't as fully effective as some other chemical repellants.You will smell highly perfumed while wearing it, and need to re-apply every few hours, so the scent stays strong. I wouldn't say it's pleasant because it is kind of overwhelming. But it doesn't smell terrible, it's a very strong flowery scent, almost.

So far, I am not certain this keeps the bugs away but I do like having a natural alternative. My complaint is the spray bottle, it’s poor quality and leaks when you spray it. It also clogs and doesn’t spray at times. You can see the liquid around the cap in the image.

I live in Florida & mosquitoes run amok for 6-7 months a year. Normally, if I work out in the yard for a couple of hours in July, I will get bitten by mosquitoes 20 times or more, with no mosquito repellent on my skin. The first time I used this mosquito & bug repellent, I didn't get one single mosquito or bug bite, & I was outside over 2 hours during July in Florida rainy season. That's impressive!!! However, the aroma of this bug repellent is extremely repugnant & offensive. No animal, bug, or human would get 10 feet near you with this stuff sprayed on your skin. YUK!!! Think of the sweetest & cheapest perfume or cologne you ever smelled combined with the aroma of Kaopektate or Pepto Bismal. Sickenly sweet & rancid!!!! Also, it took me 2 resoaps in the shower to get the stench smell off my skin. So, 5 Stars for effectiveness in thwarting bug bites, but 0 Stars for the awful scent. That being said, I will buy this product again because it does exactly what it is supposed to do, & zero bug bites being outside in Florida in July while doing yard work, is worth the horrible smell. Update: The 2nd time I used this product I put some vapor menthol rub under my nostrils & the smell of the big repellent was very tolerable. It works friends....

Mosquitos fly past other people to get to me. Then they invite all their friends and family to join them...which they do. They all even come out to bite me in the wintertime!All the home remedies (eat a lot of garlic, spray apple cider vinegar on yourself because mosquitos don't like the smell, don't wear anything that's perfumed, etc, etc) that are supposedly good repellents don't even come close to working on me, nor do any of the mainstream repellents. I did find one that seemed to work pretty well, but it left a really distinct oily feel on my skin, which I didn't like at all.This product, however, is superior to most. It doesn't rely on chemicals and uses botanical oils instead, yet the feel of it on your skin isn't oily at all. And it works really well. I also like the amount of the product you get when you order it. It's 8oz instead of 3 or whatever the norm is. I just know the bottle's bigger *smile*. And I also like that it's not an aerosol spray.What I don't like is the duration of effectiveness. The product says one use will last 4 hours. I wish it lasted longer, because I usually don't remember what time I put it on. And who wants to be interrupted from doing whatever they're doing to have to spray repellent on themselves again in 4 hours? I don't usually remember until I start getting bit, and by then it's too late.If you're a good clock watcher, and mosquitos think you're the epitome of a dollar buffet, you shouldn't live without this item.

I have purchased many products over the years as mosquitoes truly delight in feasting over me, and this is the best smelling repellent ever. Bye Bye Insects contains natural oils. It also contains sodium lauryl sulfate, 1.36%, not enough to prevent me from using this product. I did a sample test on my lower leg/ankle area. The spray mechanism works nicely and is just the right consistency, not too runny. Just spray and then gently wipe your hand to spread the solution over your skin. Spray, wipe, repeat - it’s as simple as that!A word of caution to those sensitive to perfumes and scents...the scent does linger after spraying, but it is a clean and fresh scent. Smells are subjective, but I personally find it soothing, kind of like aromatherapy.For now it gets 5 stars from me, update to be provided next spring, when those pesky buggers descend upon me. I will be armed and ready to go. I will let you know how it goes…

This is completely worthless. It does NOT work . Love the fact it's chemical free, however it does Not work .
