I would have to say about 2" diameter stock. Is about all I would put in it.

What size is the chuck wrench?

This is a tiny chuck. The two chuck pins are about 2.5 inches. I find that I get the most consistent performance by putting a rubber ring around the chuck jaws to keep it from loosening. For the price, it is a decent solution. It is small and is a bit disappointing right out of the box. Definitely need something to keep jaws tight while in motion.
