Manual NOT included.
Sewing machine is a wonder, just finished making a quilt using a couple different stitches. Excited to explore many others. Very sturdy, quite easy to use and extremely quiet. I searched many different options with many different prices and found this to be the best buy. The purchase price SHOULD include an operating manual which it doesn't, so beware and expect to pay an additional $19.95 for operating instructions

READ THE REVIEWS!!!
I was really looking forward to this. It was on sale and I was super excited to have another singer in my home. I recently picked up quilting and couldn't wait to use this, so when it arrived I opened it up, set it up, and got started. Well, it immediately threw an error.....the needle was hitting the presser foot so something is out of alignment. I was so disappointed. I was hoping it was just my machine but after reading the reviews I realized it was a common issue.Make sure to read reviews before purchasing something that seems too good to be true. I love my Singer Traditions and would love another Singer Machine but I'm afraid to go big because of this issue. And if people are saying customer service support is also and issue, I'm really worried. Singer.....please do better. Get back to your roots. Some of us love your machines and would like to continue to be lifelong consumers of your goods.

THIS machine problem or a Singer problem? Both?
I think my machine arrived damaged, so this is a ‘buyer beware’ review rather than this model of machine (I think! I hope? Let’s see!).Out of the box- The channel for the take up lever, where a gap should be, was pinched in almost entirely closed (see first 2 pics). There was a scuff on the front of the machine, & bottom of box looked like it was re-taped with duct tape in last pic (which USPS usually refuses to ship- so that seemed odd?) w/no bottom styrofoam. The top of the box was taped shut with clear packing tape. I suspect this machine may have dropped out of the bottom of the box at some point & took a hit to throw off the geometry which makes it work *tehnically* but creates a tension problem. Not sure if this machine was used? Which really wouldn’t bother me if it worked properly. It arrived with a needle installed (which doesn’t seem normal to me, but maybe that’s fine?). What’s definitely not normal is when I got the machine set up & ran a simple straight stitch on fabric the needle immediately snapped. It also wasn’t a Singer needle- I replaced with Singer needles which worked better, but far from great.Pic #3 is how far I could pull the casing apart to thread the machine. Both channels should be the same width. The outer plastic casing itself obviously has nothing to do with the thread tension, but I think it’s a sign of a more serious internal problem of pressure on the needle shank geometry caused by blunt force trauma. The tension felt way too high regardless of settings adjustments, or when I switched to different thread/fabric (all the troubleshooting stuff). I need a replacement for my Singer Ingenuity so I REALLY wanted to make this work. It seemed really finicky & VERY different (not better) from the model I’m replacing. It would eventually snap thread, or a needle- even with a basic straight stitch. All the fancy stitches were way too tight regardless of adjustments to machine or materials. I know what to expect from my older predecessor model which had the same programmed stitches- as well as thread & fabric what works great. Now, I *have* had issues with newer Singer machines (NOT my older Ingenuity) being way too tight (or randomly loosey goosey), dropping stitches, & generally applying too much power unnecessarily Tim-The-Tool-Man-Taylor style (Singer HD4452 Heavy Duty & HD-110C, respectively). imo, a ‘Heavy Duty’ machine should be able to catch thread & make a reliable stitch- which, for me, both of these take a LOT of finesse, troubleshooting, & have very limited applications to work at all. This is why I’m not sure if the tension issue is a THIS machine problem, or a new Singer problem.I’ll be returning this machine, and I’m not confident in a replacement of the same model. It’s far less user-friendly than my old Ingenuity. The new stitch selection mechanism with just ^up rather than ^up + v down is way too easy to overshoot & tedious. My older model had auto-tension in addition to a manual tension adjust wheel which I missed. It’s already got digital guts- why not help the tension problem? For the price, it should at least be functional & reliable. If I hadn’t had experience w/similar machines or w/sewing in general, I could be convinced that my issues were user error. It would be unfortunate for someone to buy this machine, have a needlessly frustrating time, & pack it away in a closet after the return window has passed thinking they can’t sew.I’ll update here if I have issues with the return. Amazon’s new return policy also seems more strict & attempting to charge me a re-stocking fee (or deny the return entirely) for a potentially broken product (also, that’s not a “free return”). Maybe I just got a lemon because other reviews for this machine seem pretty great. I very very much hope they’ll listen (amz or singer!) & refurbish the machine instead of junking it because it SHOULD be repairable.
