Every home should have one (or more)
Bought as a replacement to the same model that has been our upstairs extinguisher for a decade. Whilst the old one still shows full charge, it’s best to replace them after a while to ensure they do work when they are needed. It is small enough to be portable and useable by one of the kids if they had to in an emergency but big enough you could use it on more than a tiny paper in fire. Personally think every house should have one and rather than a pot plant, a wee fire extinguisher like this is a much better house moving gift!

Review in two parts
The fire extinguisher was poorly packed and the manufacturer's packaging damaged, though the extinguisher is as far as can be judged, ok.As such, it isn't really as described by the seller. It is sad because this is a New Home gift for a young couples' first home. I would buy elsewhere in future. I buy a large number of items from Amazon, and it is especially disappointing when something fulfilled by them is not up to par.I already have one of these extinguishers of my own and they are very robust. Hopefully, neither will need to be used on a real fire. I recommend the extinguisher.

Never know when you might need just this, so get one
Bought one of these a few years ago, which is in the coat cupboard downstairs. Its still perfectly charged (licenced Fire Warden, so know what to look for), solid and very easy to use. Have now bought a second for upstairs, to replace older no longer charged similar model. What can you say about a fire extinguisher, other than you hope never to need it. Having had 3 house fires within 500 yards of my home over 6 years, would rather have than not, depends on what you value your life and possesions at. We use Kidde at work, so took that as a recommendation, know a multi-purpose is better than specific, DONT mount in the stand - leave free standing, read the instructions when you get it before you find you need it. And check the pressure gauge regularly, you life might just depend on it.

Good value
Dry powder fire extinguishers can differ in ratings, even if they contents are the same weight. This one is rated 13A, 89B, C. This is not in the product information but can be seen by enlarging the photo. This rating is higher than some other 2kg models.Fire extinguisher ratings are relevant to the Boat Safety Scheme in the UK. Even a modest sized boat must have three extinguishers and the minimum combined rating is specified. I made the mistake of buying three 1kg extinguishers from LIDL, only to find out that they did not meet the minimum combined rating. By using this 2kg extinguisher and two of the 1kg extinguishers my boat will meet the requirements of the BSS and having one decent sized extinguisher is a bonus. The extinguisher is guaranteed for 6 years and comes with a plastic mounting bracket and two straps.

Not permited extinguishers
The new fire regulations have now stopped holiday let’s from having powder extinguishers the inspectors say powder can only be used on outside working areas. So unfortunately these are useless for me and l am unable to return them as the packages were wet on arrival and torn. Foam or Co2 are now required.

Perfect size for kitchen or bedroom
Ordered 2 of these for our 2 bedroom flat. One for the kitchen area and one for our bedroom. They are easy to operate and reasonably sized so they would actually be useful if a decent size fire needed to be put out or a path needed to be cleared to a window/door for escape.Mounting bracket that is supplied is plastic but is durable enough to actually use, though I chose not to. I would think anyone who purchases this item would be pleased.

Be careful to check it is a genuine item
When I received this Kidde fire extinguisher everything appeared to be ok, but I couldn't find any manufacture date stamp on the cylinder. So I phoned Kidde Customer Services and they said if it hasn't a date stamp it isn't one of theirs. Please check yours, remember that it is a safety item and you don't want to find out you have an inferior product when you need it! Follow on note; I bought a replacement from Argos and that had the date stamp clearly visible.

Still haven't used it. Thankfully.
Thankfully I have as yet not had the need to use this extinguisher in anger, but it has performed better just sitting in it's stand than others I have bought in the past. I don't know if it's just my navy training, but I'm always cautious about fire fighting equipment and check over the ones in my house regularly. Once a week I'll have a check of the pressure gauge and once a month I'll weigh the bottle. So far, not a drop of propellant has been lost and the gauge is exactly where it started. One thing to note about my somewhat compulsive checking, is that it normally puts great strain on the mounting equipment of these devices. This Kidde one has been great and the clasps on the wall mount have stood up well to monthly opening and closing. It gives me confidence in the overall quality of the product.Well worth the cash for something I hope I never have to use.
