Excellent, durable food-mill
The Kitchen Craft MCFOODMILL is a bigger and more durable stainless steel version of the vintage enamelled French-made mill my mother used half a century ago. This Kitchen Craft version is dishwasher safe, and in the last month it has passed all the tests our family has thrown at it, including an inadvertent drop off the draining board on to a hard floor where it simply bounced off without a bend or a mark. The cross-bar is infinitely more secure and ergonomic during the milling than the flexible wire bridges found on cheaper modern imitations. Once one has found the knack it is easy to fit it in place and remove. The vintage original featured three evenly spaced legs which fitted loosely on several rim sizes up to 22cm. This KC version is much bigger than the old one, and it is a tight squeeze in a slightly contoured pan with a 24cm rim, as seen in my photo.

Does a good job.
I bought this mill primarily for processing apples and I am very pleased so far. I have only tried the 3mm screen and it passed the pulp easily while holding back the seeds and skin. Although I had to keep pushing down material that had squeezed up the side from under the scraper everything went through without much effort and with very little waste. My only problem was in finding a pot the right size as the mill tended to rock when I was turning the crank.... but that is not the manufacturer's fault.

Essential mouli mill for home preservers.
I love using this. I make and pasteurise tomato passata and Mediterranean vegetable sauces for winter use with pasta, potato or rice. The three grades of disc means you can choose how smooth the finished product will be. The finest disc is great for a smooth passata and traps the skins/pips in the mill. At the end these can be removed and slowly dried in the oven or dehydrator, ground and mixed with dried herbs and a little salt to make a tasty tomato seasoning. There is no waste. My only negative comment is the handle. Because it’s been made to hang then the padded cover it not long enough and after a couple of hours continual use it can leave sore patches on your hand. I wrap a clean tea towel around it now and the problem is solved. I do also process very large quantities for fruit and veg. This probably wouldn’t occur if you were using smaller quantities.

Fault design in discs, resulting in loads of wasted mash sticking to them.
The product is very sturdy the material feels nice and heavy. HOWEVER there are two serious defects, which make it a pain to use with too much wasted and a pain to clean. 1) The the holes in the metal discs have been drilled from the wrong side, resulting in protruding edges, 0.5-1mm, around each holes. This leave a thick layer of wasted mash covering the disc, which is also impossible to clean. 2) The bending of the metal ‘spatula’ does not perfectly matches the shape of the disc, leaving a 1mm gap, resulting again in a lot of wasted mash sticking on the disc.It may just be a faulty item from factory, but enlarging the photos in the add, it seems a default in design. In the end I had to bin it.

Does what it is supposed to and that very well.
After having heard many complaints from my wife about the tomato sauce available in UK is not tasting right and definitely not like on pizza in Sicily, we went looking to make our own sauce. That in itself is no easy task, more like an adventure when oftentimes the dice are against you. So we also needed a tomato crusher, which this devices is supposed to do. Having read many reviews and not few about this particular one not being overly positive, we still decided to go for this, as all we wanted to do was crushing good, tasty and sun ripened tomatoes. We've been pleasantly surprised by this device, as it is sturdy enough to do the job and will last some years. It is dishwasher safe, which is a huge plus. Crushing tomatoes couldn't be easier, just slicing or dicing them roughly for large plum tomatoes is enough. The skins get scraped clean very nicely and easily collected and discarded. What you then are left with, is a rich tomato sauce, which can be used as thick juice or cooked down into a proper sauce. It fits most pots, it's easy to work with and cleans up nicely afterwards.I can definitely recommend this for making proper and authentic tomato sauce, if you can get hold of decent tomatoes.

... other reviews it doesn't really force the food through like a spoon and a sieve
It's OK but as per other reviews it doesn't really force the food through like a spoon and a sieve. Good for the bulk work, but not to get the best out.

Strong but lightweight
This was my first rotary food mill and I love it. Well made but light enough to hold and handle. No legs or clips with this one but it sits on the rim of a mixing bowl or pan. Makes lovely soups and sauces, and have just made fruit puree to add to home made yoghurt icecream. Not sure why 3 different discs are included with most mills as I only use the finest one for everything, The spring is strong so it takes a little effort to load the disc, but once done it is held firmly and works really well.

Good for making mash
I grow tomatoes and berries and make sauces so I wanted something to sieve out the pips and skin. This does do this but it’s quite hard work as the mill has a habit of falling apart. It’s also quite bulky and difficult to store. It does make really smooth mashed potatoes though, and requires much less work than the tomatoes!
