We are big fans of Melissa & Doug products in our home and I can hand on heart say that I have never bought one of their items and been disappointed with them as they are always great quality and also normally as a bonus they have some sort of educational slant to them too. The idea of these sets is that your child places the corresponding stickers from the sticker sheet onto the main frame to create their own stained glass effect window decoration. The pictures have darkened raised lines outlining the sticker areas and the stickers themselves are raised so once completed they do look quite spectacular. This Butterfly design set comes with a frame, a sticker sheet, a hanging cord and a suction cup so it has everything your child needs to create their stained glass effect picture. The finished design measures approximately 25cm by 21cm and so it is a really good size. This set has an easier sticker layout than older sets had as they are now laid out to mimic the picture which makes it much easier for younger children to be able to complete them by themselves. I have bought quite a few of these stained glass made easy sets in the past such as their Owl version , Rainbow Garden version , Race Car version , Mermaid version , Princess version , Unicorn version and Undersea Fantasy version and they have each been beautifully designed and are lots of fun to make. I love that they are now making more gender neutral ones such as the Owl version , Safari version and Dragon version and hopefully they will continue with more designs as we are hooked! Once completed the stained glass pictures look great even just hanging on a wall but they look brilliant if hung in a window when the light catches them. A great set for a creative child or even to fill up a rainy day. I have added a few photos of the sets that have been completed in the past along with photos of this set.

Big fan of Melissa and Doug and this didn't disappoint. Well made and my little one really enjoyed making it. Was easy to do so needed little supervision after some initial guidance. Have hung it up in her bedroom window and it has been up now for almost 3 months and the suction cup hasn't failed yet. It doesn't necessarily catch the light (the inserts are a sort of gel) but still lovely to look at. Would say this was great for say 4yrs + (my girl is 5), any younger and it might be a little difficult. It makes a great present as looks good quality, is interesting and different, and is something that can be put up on display once made.

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter as a Christmas present. It was perfect, she required hardly any help to make the window. The pieces are clearly laid out, making it easy for her age group to understand. They are easy to remove from the film but stick firmly to the plastic. It kept her enthralled for an entire afternoon and is still on proud display in her bedroom window - the finished article is very aesthetically pleasing and catches the sun beautifully. It's a little expensive for an everyday item, but for a treat at Christmas, it's really worth it.

Bought for a 6 year old but very easy to do and was done in about half an hour and once its done that's it, very pretty finished item and looks good hung in the window but expensive for what it is.

My great niece, loved doing this, she's 5 and actually stayed focused on completing it without getting bored and wanting to do somethg else. In my book that's a result. The finished product was eye-catching and its not so difficult to hang up in her room at the window so the light can shine through. It's very neat, pieces are well cut out, no fiddling necessary. The end result is the same as the picture on the packaging. Lovley item would recommend for child of same age.

Someone bought this for my daughter’s 4th birthday and we both really enjoyed working together to create it. I bought this for another child’s birthday - great value for money. It’s a great activity and best of all, it doesn’t take up space other than on a window! We’re almost 6 months down the line after making this, and it’s still going strong.

My 6 year old really enjoyed this activity and the finished item looks great. That said it was very easy for her and didn't take very long to complete. I still bought another though as she enjoyed it so much. She gave the completed butterfly to her nan as a gift and it was nice to be able to give a child crafted item that will be put up and kept up.

I purchased this as an activity I could do with my almost 5 year old daughter. We had so much fun and it turns out fabulous. So much so we are going to purchase more and give them as Easter gifts. It's really easy to follow, colours look amazing and it does look like stained glass hanging up.

A nice little activity gift.

Als Geschenk für die 4jährige Tochter gekauft. Sehr schön und farbenfroh. Leicht zu bekleben, Sticker halten auch gut. Geht recht schnell - hatten wir in ca 1/2 Stunde fertig. Als Fensterbild ein Hingucker und auf jeden Fall eine nette Beschäftigung ab 4 Jahren.
