Q: Does this break down into 2 pieces vertically? I only have a 190cm opening with a lip. It says it adjusts from 194cm which is fine once in the tracks.

No. The height is adjusted by sliding a section at the top. It also does not work with UPVC patio doors.

Q: Once fitted is it secure and lockable?

Yes: *Horizontally, there are Latches supplied to fix the insert to the frame, and the sliding door to this insert. *Vertically it's spring loaded to fit and can be fixed in place with supplied screws, can't be removed from the frame then without these being removed. *From outside looks original, feels as sturdy as the door, and I can't get it to budge when fixed and locked.

Q: Do you have to screw into the existing door to fit the lock? I'm in a rental and I don't think my landlord will allow that.

Yes the lock bit is the only thing that has to be screwed in the existing door if you want it.
