A great lens for your days out.
First things first I'm just a someone who likes taking photos and having large prints done of the ones I like best. I know there not technically brilliant but I like them.I've been using this lens on a D7100 and D3100 but mostly the D7100.I've given this lens 5 stars not because it's the best lens optically or the lightest or anything like that, but in the month I've been using it it's just been the right tool for the job and I love the pictures it's been giving me. As other people have said it's a great all day lens. I have a Nikon 55-200 and was never really happy with the shots it took, they where always just sort of OK and I never used it at 200mm as the picture quality was horrible. So I swallowed hard and ordered the 18-140 and as I said I'm very happy with the results. For me it takes an ace picture. It's quite a hefty beast and fitted on the D7100 it's not a light weight package but I've walked up lots of mountains in the month I've had it and not had a problem. The fitting was surprisingly tight on the camera. Everything works as advertised and the VR seems to work lots better than the 55-200. The zoom action is quite stiff but there's no creep in the mechanism. My only minor gripe is with Nikon, for what this lens costs you'd think there would be a lens bag included. Other than that well recommended.

Great lens but so is the 18-105mm lens
I bought this Nikon 18-140mm lens to replace my previous 18-105mm lens which I'd lost. I read several reviews from various websites, some of whom preferred the 18-105 lens, some of whom preferred this lens. The bottom line is unless you're the sort of person who takes the same image using various lenses, lays them side by side and studies them in minute detail looking for imperfections....unless you're that sort of person, you're never going to know the difference. The only thing that put me off buying this lens initially was the price. The 18-105mm is available for around £190. The 18-140mm costs over £400.However, I noticed one seller on here (RYH Deals UK) was selling the 18-140mm for £215. I was a little reluctant at first, not knowing if it would turn out to be a grey import or if it was genuinely a Nikon lens. In the end I went for it, and it arrived within 3 days, in genuine Nikon packaging, with a genuine Nikon warranty....Bargain!In my opinion, having used the 18-140mm lens for about a month now, it's just as good as the 18-105mm, with a bit of extra zoom which comes in handy. If you're looking for a genuine Nikon, general purpose, zoom lens, you won't go wrong with this one....IF the price is right.

Origin
Not sure where it came from. It was in a Nikon box but not packaged like my other Nikon lenses. It was just rolled in bubble wrap and rattled round the box. Not fully tested it yet but will update after.

Started of good but it's not a hot shot anymore.
This is a "good" buy for what it is but don't be fooled it has one big down side to it, although the range of the lens is fantastic the quality of it is rather poor to the point that when i got it i would have and did say "it is a perfect all round lens that should be in everyones bag", but after a good deal of time using it my point of view has now changed to "why even bother using it" a good 60% of photos i take with this a ruined due to the lens being so blurry. I really don't know what to say about it sometimes it can work fine putting out a 6.5/10 quality picture over say my nikkor 40mm and then other times it wont even push 3/10. In the 18mm range it reaches the higher range of its quality "depending on light level" and when in the 140mm range it's more closer to the 3/10 mark, if i could get a refund on this i probably would, the only reason in my mind to buy it is that its got a good focal range for its price.

Brilliant!!
I have a Nikon D5300 and the kit lens was an 18-55mm which was a great starter. I use my D5300 for photography but also videography and this is the lens that Nikon recommend for a number of reasons. It has not disappointed! It is a lot heavier than the 18-55mm for obvious reasons but with the D5300 it is still half the weight of a full frame camera with the equivalent lens. It has been a total game changer for me.The value for money is great, as other reviewers have said you could get an 18-200 or even 300mm but the price increment is significant and as I don't have £££ to spend I have this lens and a 35mm f1.8 for the price of an 18-200. Whenever I leave the house with my camera the 18-140mm lens is always on and I have not yet found a situation that is not workable with it. Love It!!

I love this lens.
My first SLR camera and my first lens. I must say this lens is fantastic the detail in the pictures are superb, I was going to buy a cheaper lens but after reading a lot of reviews I went for the Nikon AF-S 18-140mm with VR. I am so happy I did buy this one because it just looks so good on the camera and make it look like a quality camera. The focus is very smooth and easy to use it just feels like quality I love this lens, I have the standard Nikon 18-55mm and the Nikon 300mm lens but I rarely take this lens off.

Great lens and great value for money.
Just purchased this as a replacement for my original Nikon 18-55mm Kit Lens and from the initial test shots that I have taken, I like it! One downside which is not any fault with this lens is to work out a regime for my Filters (non-U/V that is). I have a number of ND filters for my original kit lens (18-55mm), do I want to repurchase these for my new lens? Maybe a flat ND filter kit with one adaptive lens mount might work. Anyway, great lens and great value for money.
