So far so good
I have an elderly Porsche 924S (1985) which does not get enough exercise and the battery suffers. I am tired charging it up for a few hours before a run, so have finaly bit the bullet and bought the booster. It arrived on time looks the part and was going to use it this morning, but guess what? Yes the Porsche fired first time, but watch this space. The Booster arrived almost fully charged and took about an hour for the warning LED to go out. It is light enough to stow in the car for holidays and is handy for my everyday car, a Honda CRV. Clarkes are a good name, I have a MIG welder from them, over 20 years old still working fine and a pal has a air compresser the same age still going strong. So, if this fellow follows suit I'll be a happy bunny. I only wanted a booster for a tired battery, not an all singing, dancing, compresser, glow in the dark inverter and tea maker. The only other that was in contention sounded like it had an oriental connection, pun intended. The only fault I have hence a star missing, is that jump leads are a wee bit on the short side, otherwise a good piece of kit.It is now the end of October the Porsche needed a new alternator and starter motor, not cheap, but essential in the "get up and go dept." The Honda decided it was not getting enough attention and would't start first time, so the booster came in very handy until I got a new battery. Just as well I packed in smoking three years ago! Yes this product is now classified as the dog's danglies hense the upgrade to five stars, the leads are still a little short but could be lengthened if I could get the time between fixing Prima Donna Porsches and sulky Hondas. Now highly recommended. This now January 2013. The only drawback about owning this booster is, that neighbours, especially the tighter ones, get wind you have this magic piece of kit that starts reluctant cars, and you will be happy to trudge out to the garage on cold, windy and wet mornings before 8.00 am. and get them started. As I am retired and enjoy a wee lie in on miserable mornings, I am going to set up a charity box so these miserable beggers can stick in a fiver which is cheaper and quicker than the local garage. Clarke should be paying me commission. I know of one person was shamed into getting one. The rest, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! I prefer Glenfiddich at least in its teens, not Glenlidle, Glentesco or Glenaldi. A Good New Year to all our readers.Jist a wee crack fur Rob. Aye, yea'r recht, ma hintend squeeks as I gang alang. This lot at Amazon ur needing a wee humour implant as thiv cut ye aff afore I got back tae ye. Ony mair o yur cheek and ye are fur a skelpit lug, an if ye ur a Fifer dinna chap my door afore eight. It's now June 2014 and I've traded my Honda in for a Volvo V70 Diesel. The battery was flattened accidentally recently and out came the booster. Started first time! It's almost boring how reliable this unit is, but I really prefer it to be predictable. It has started a lot of cars and even powered a 12v winch to rescue a caravan. Just make sure it's well charged when not in use. This is a handy piece of Kit I would be pleased to recommend to anyone. I don't think I've explored it's full parameters yet. Commission cheques to the usual address please!

The unit worked as expected
I wanted a basic jump stater for my 1600cc Hatchback car which recently has experienced problems starting in cold weather. This product is great. Once charged up at home in mains socket you plug it onto the car battery terminals for a couple of minutes (with ignition in first START position) then trying turning on the engine. It fired up instantly for me and I was able to take the car for a run to recharge my depleted battery. There is a good length of cord (1m) for positive and negative connections - a useful slim booklet a few pages long which fits into a pouch on the unit - a strong light for nighttime use - a meter with test button which shows level of battery charge in the unit and a red light that goes out when fully charged. There are two adapters - one for the main charge at home (the unit comes almost fully charged anyway) and another that fits into the 12v cigar socket so you can charge the unit on the move. The most useful feature is the units portability which means you can take it with you on long journeys in case you get stuck with a depleted car battery (or to assist someone else). Once charged it will stay that way for several weeks until it needs another boost at home. They do warn you not to let this product charge drop into the RED zone on the meter as that may cause long term damage to this unit. The same would be true of any ordinary car battery really. If you leave a car battery in a garage for six months with hardly any power do not expect it to hold a charge when reconnected to the car. So, make sure this product is plugged into the mains at least once a month for a boost to keep it functioning as expected. One more thing - there is an 12v adapter slot on the side and cable so you can charge up other 12v products as if you were charging a mobile phone on the go. But, that is a redundant feature if you already have a 12v type connector near the dashboard as most cars do.All in all a very good item from a well established company who have a successful track record of producing these types of units for the motor industry.

Excellent, great to have for unexpected battery failures.
Experienced regular inexplicable battery drains on my old car and it was becoming a pain to pester friends and family for a jump whilst troubleshooting. Therefore I sprung for this portable booster pack and it's been excellent, started the car without a hitch and very easy to use and portable - although it does have a reasonable heft to it so might not be suitable for anyone with frailty. The instructions a very clear and concise and it came pre-charged, I'd have given it 5 stars but the built in storage pocket is nearly useless as it doesn't stretch enough to accomodate the mains supply for charging.Worth noting as well that this pack requires a re-charge after each use and routine 3 monthly re-charges to keep it tip top.

Simple to use, extremely effective
I bought this when we had the spell of cold weather last week. My 7 year old 1.8 Astra had a completely flat battery on the Saturday morning and I was unable to book it in for testing until the Thursday. Needed something to get it going in the mornings and based on the positive reviews here and for the 910 model I ordered. I plugged the unit in on the Monday evening but it was already fully charged and then used it for 3 consecutive days. Extremely easy to use, once connected turn the ignition on for a minimm of 2 minutes before turning the engine over - started immediately every time. Having this kit meant I could leave the house each morning without any dread of the car not starting. I also popped it in the boot in case I had the same problem at the end of the day. I've since had the car battery replaced (even though it tested okay) as it was the original and wasn't firing as quickly as it should. I don't regret buying this - as a temporary measure I could rely on it for getting to work on time. Instructions state it needs to be charged every 3 months to avoid it going into the red and damaging the unit. The manuals are available online at [...]
