perfect alarm clock
I like it! I had the earlier version of this for about 25 years (which was a little bit bigger and heavier) until it finally bit the dust, so I was pleased to see Sony had produced a newer version and with extra functions.Open the box, plug it in and it finds the right time for you. Display is bright orange and easy to read. The instructions to set the alarm and radio are easy to follow and understand too. As I am now a pensioner and not working I haven't as yet had reason to use the alarm function but it appears to be working fine and true to sony standards the radio is remarkably clear for something so cheap. I have no need for the snooze timer or the variable brightness function but it has both if you need them. I will put it through its paces in the coming weeks but so far I've only had it 3 days before being asked to review it but so far I am more than happy with it.I have no hesitation in recommending this as it has everything you could possibly want from an alarm clock and more!!!!

Classic bedside essential
Let's be honest, if you're using your mobile phone as an alarm clock, you're going to bed reading stuff on it and waking up to a head full of overnight notifications. What's the solution? Leave the phone downstairs charging and get this bad boy into your life. It's cool looking, excellent clear display (with 3 brightness settings) and has both a beepy alarm and also a FM radio. It's fantastic value for money, built to last and sporting a timelessly classic design. Also, you can plug it into the mains or use battery. Super handy. Recommended.

A simple neat alarm clock that works
My old Sony Dream Machine eventually started to fail (snooze button), and it was with reluctance I looked for a replacement. Bought this from the Amazon Warehouse, and the item was in perfect condition - except the button cell (backup battery) was dead and needed replacing. This is definitely not hi-fi audio equipment, but fine with talk radio. The FM radio locks into the station well, and does not seem to drift off station. There is an aerial wire out that helps improve reception. The controls are slightly more complicated than the previous Dream Machine but did not take long to get used to them. The unit is small and compact - with speaker ports on the side of the unit. The clock itself seems accurate, and does retain the settings after a power cut. The clock light can be dimmed (3 settings), so you should be able to find a setting that does not disturb your sleep. Instructions are actually quite good - but do read them, the setup sequence was a bit strange. I also had a problem with the first setup - and they did not quite seem to match the sequence you need to set up the clock initially. As a very simple clock radio, this is a good unit. Dropping a star for the slightly more complex controls, and instructions which did not quite match what appeared on the clock face when first setting up.

Neat
I only purchased this clock so that I can see the time during the night. It's astonishing how many clocks don't do that - only light up for seconds! I don't need to use the radio or alarm, so I can't comment on that but the clock is perfect for my needs, and looks good, taking up very little space on my nightstand. Of course, I won't know if the automatic time change works until October, but here's hoping. All in all, I'm very pleased indeed with this clock, and would recommend - it was recommended to me, by a friend.

Truly great full
Tiny, dreadful beyond belief. My first radio as a 10 year old at boarding school was similar but actually better in all respectsIt’s crude and antiquated.Tuning is done with a small knob. I couldn’t find my station and gave up after an hour.No searching, no indication which station you’re listening to. No ability to save a station.Quite possibly the worst buy on Amazon. Shame on you Sony - it’s binned.Shame on Amazon for supplying it and recommending it.I’m, quite honestly, staggered that anyone thinks this object was worth marketing and supplying.

Neat little radio, alarm clock.
Great little clock, sadly the battery had expired so had to reset everything which at my old age I didn’t find easy to do. But very pleased overall.

Perfect clock radio let down by loud buzzing
It has a constant buzzing noise which is distracting especially when trying to sleep. This is a real shame given that it works perfectly and I would happily use it for years and years otherwise. It has lovely sound quality, is easy to use (although the buttons are strangely laid out), you can change the brightness on the display, does AM/FM (but not DAB), can easily set the date, time and alarm time, and having a volume wheel give you precise volume control. The display is easy to read, is attractive and is much smaller than previous Sony cubes of old at only 10cms.So It's perfect apart from the buzzing.
