A Game Changer
The media could not be loaded. Let me start by saying, I RARELY write reviews. I've been working with and listening to vinyl records since the 1970s. I've tried it all for cleaning. Nothing beats a professional expensive cleaning machine, but this one is a close second. I have tried/had access to different cleaning methods (my current setup, before this machine, was: a seperate Ultrasonic Cleaner, a Spin-Clean, hand cleaning with a custom solution and a small computer vac). This one does it all but better. With my audiophile turntable, I have a 2M Ortofon Bronze cartridge which picks up EVERYTHING. It's a fantastic stylus for sound stage, but the dust it picks up is unbelievable. (You have to frequently clean it). If there is dust in the grooves, it will turn your stylus into a dust vacuum where you can't play the other side without a stylus cleaning. (Imagine your dryer's lint filter)That being said...using this machine it really gets most of the of gunk out. I have tried a few records that I put through my normal cleaning regimen...some will Snap, Crackle and Pop! Using this machine (I followed the directions...using a cleaning solution of my choice and distilled water), It really helps! Most of my records are already fairly clean, and this gets them much better. I had a few tracks that just wouldn't play right...after 2 deep cleaning cycles with the HumminGuru, they are actually playable. You can't fix a damaged vinyl, but HumminGuru does remarkable about cleaning deep groove junk. I find I can actually play 2 sides of a vinyl record, without using my stylus cleaning brush. That's a first for me!!! That's how good this machine works. If people are complaining about the cleaning, they are expecting a miracle fix for bad vinyl records...just follow the instructions and your records will be clean, dry and you can walk away while it works.Noise: 7/10. My old ultrasonic cleaner was WAY louder. To me, the loudest is when it empties the tank.Ease of Use: 10/10. Very easy and simple to use, fill up the water tank, put a few drops of cleaning liquid, choose your time (regular or double) and let it do the work.Directions: 10/10. I'm surprised at how detail oriented they were.Speed: 9/10. Very fast. I clean on setting 2 of Auto Deep Cleaning, takes 5 minutes to wash and It only needs 5 min of drying (using the switch on level 1 of drying mode).Price: 6/10. I think it's a bit pricey since it costs to ship to the US. However, you get what you pay for and at $499 when I purchased it, it's will save you money in the long run on your cleaning time.A few hints: 1- Be careful when pouring the water into the basin...that lid can come off and make a mess, I wish it was a little more secure. 2- Clean your tank and the water basin frequently. 3- You can easily clean 10+ records with one tank of water & solution before swapping out the water. Just pay attention to how cloudy it gets (bubbles are normal and will be filtered out). 4- If I am cleaning bad records or need to really use a strong solution, it would be helpful to have 2 tanks (one for cleaning and one for rinsing). 5- MOST important, make sure you gently tap on the top of the vinyl record when it's in the machine so that it will turn properly. You want to make sure it's rotating. Always check this. You won't be disappointed in the unit. I've cleaned over 50 vinyls with it before writing this review.

This machine works well.
This machine is awesome! You have to use the right cleaning solution though. There is a product by the name of Tergicleen that improves the cleaning abilities of the machine tremendously. What is rather surprising is that you only need one drop of tergicleen per water tank. I add one drop to the tank and add the distilled water to it. This helps to get it mixed properly. I found that I can clean 6 to 10 records with one tank. The solution is very weak so I don't wash and rinse. I just run the double wash and dry cycle. The record comes out dry unlike using distilled water with alcohol which leaves a couple of small drops remaining on the record. You can literally see the water go brown after several uses . I noticed a big difference in the sound after cleaning. Everything sounds much better. Clarity, ambience, space, texture, fullness etc. Make sure to super glue the little rubber feetEk in plek at the bottom of the machine. They fall out and the machine can spill water when standing uneven. With the rubber feet glued in place, it works perfectly, no spilling. I found the machine very convenient and easy to use. I will clean one record while listening to another,...... In the same room. This machine will bring new life to your records. I also prefer using this machine since I don't have to use one gallon of water for each cleaning cycle. It is easy to store and don't take up a lot of space. Every now and then I will run into undersized records the won't spin. They do include a rubber foam spacer for the idle wheel but I just hold my finger nail against the record edge and it will spin. The machine comes with several spare wheels etc which is comforting to know. I am very happy with the machine. It has done a tremendous job. I did run into some very old records that had deeply embedded pops that it would not remove entirely, but, it definitely made the record listenable.

Finally a practical ultrasonic record cleaning machine
This record cleaning machine makes ultrasonic technology affordable and practical. In terms of ease of use it is unsurpassed. The Nova is the new second generation machine that was developed with feedback from customers who bought and use the original HumminGuru, which is still available. I use mine in conjunction with a VPI Vacuum record cleaning machine. There are pluses and minuses to each technology, but in tandem the result provides unsurpassed record cleaning capabilities. For the record collector buying new, or almost new records the HumminGuru is all you need. It should be used before playing your record for the first time, then store it in a poly sleeve. Throw away the paper sleeve if it came with one. If your record was bought used or is very dirty, then it would be best if you wash it first, either by hand or with a machine like the VPI, and then finish with the HumminGuru. If you already have a machine like the VPI and your records are already clean, you may ask will an ultrasonic machine like the HumminGuru improve your sound? Yes, absolutely. Ultrasonic cleaning makes any record sound more alive, brighter, in short it adds sparkle to the presentation. You will love it. Finally a word about reliability. HumminGuru has been on the market for a few years. The reports are that the company has excellent customer support. That they have introduced Nova attests to that fact. I could find no reports of machine failures. The machine is well thought out, easy to use, comes complete in every way and includes an excellent, well written owner's manual.
