Can be hard work but gives a deep lasting shine
I've tried a variety of different car polishes, and Simoniz Original Carnauba wax is by some measure the most hard work I've had waxing my car. It does give a very high gloss result, and provides excellent and lasting protection, but it sets hard quite quickly, so if you slather it on carelessly over a complete panel, you will have a hard time polishing it to a shine. The best way to use this polish is sparingly and methodically over small areas, one panel at a time. Put too much on, and you will find that you are left with the occasional streak of polish that is surprisingly hard to polish out.I'm not kidding about how much work this stuff is, it really is hard work. Because it's so much effort, I don't use this very often. I use it either because I am really in the mood for some hard work on a nice day while I give my pride and joy some TLC, or I feel I need the extra paint protection this Simoniz wax offers. (For example, I put this on when I go on holiday and will be driving on narrow roads where there is a risk of roadside shrubs coming into contact with my car.)If you want an easier time polishing, then other paste waxes are available, including an excellent one from Turtlewax which is both easier to apply and buff to a shine. The liquid waxes are easier still, with the Autoglym liquid polish being very good. But short of a ceramic coating, I don't think there is a wax that offers the same combination of shine and a tough protection at this price point that this Simoniz wax does.If you want quick and easy results, this stuff will drive you mad. But if you are up for a challenge, this wax is very good and is good value.

Good for price with a bit of elbow grease.
Good if used in right way. Do a small bit at at time example quarter of bonnet not the whole bonnet in one go. Use a damp application pad. To apply very tiny not a great lump of wax. And a super soft microfibre cloth to buff off. Keep a food container tub of water on hand to keep application pad damp. Wise it will turn into a three hour nightmare. Not instructions on tin . Which doesn't help. Leave a good finish and can last a few month got to put on car before winter. Last tin bought 2017 will last a while I don't use very often maybe 4 time a year. My car got now got water based paint so chips easily. I put a layer on it hope it my protect it a bit. From the stone chipsVery good water beading. Don't know if it uv protection but hopefully protect a little from the sun as my car red.

Brilliant, long lasting protection.
Firstly it would be best to start by saying that i have used this product for quite a few years now, so i don't really have any other opinions of supposedly 'more advanced products' or 'new technology' that could be around to make things easier. All i know is how this wax works, and it works perfectly.Wax isn't really designed to shine a car; that would be the job of a polish, which should be applied before waxing. So really when reviewing a wax, it should only be based on how easy it is to use and how long the wax protects your car.I can say from experience that Simoniz original car wax is easy enough to apply. As long as you abide by the rules of the tin then you will be fine. You really should test the item first on a small panel just to get a feel of how much you need to buff, as I've heard people claiming that application is easy, others have said it is near impossible. It all really depends on how much work you think you are prepared to put into protecting your car. Personally i think application is fine; working at a panel at a time and not allowing the wax to dry, i can complete the whole car in around an hour. Whether people think this is a long time is down to personal preference, but i feel that the effort is well worth it. As i said before, you may be able to get waxes that can be applied in minutes, or different materials that say they are superior to a wax, but as i have never tried anything else it would be hard for me to compare. I would say it might possibly be true; after all, technology does improve. But Simoniz original wax is rather inexpensive and i love the results, so i never felt the need to move onto anything else.Car protection from using this product is excellent. I applied my winter coat only a few days ago so it would be unfair to judge in that short space of time. However from the last winter application, the wax lasted around 3-4 months before the visible signs of water protection started to fade. This i consider to be an excellent space of time, as it pretty much protects the car all through winter, then in Spring all you need is another polish, clay bar and wax and you're done again until late summer.I like to look after the cars I've had and I would recommend this product for any motor. It may be hard work for the modern motorist who likes things done fast, but for the best detail, take the time, put in the effort and you will be rewarded.
