Great hobby saw.
Got this as a replacement for my old Draper 2 wheel saw which always seemed to have problems with things like table-tilt, tracking and tension slip, and tension unit sticking etc. Anyway, this machine is almost the same design-wise but - no problems so far! It came with a 1/2" blade, very highly tensioned (I'd advise loosening it a little before use), but I now use Axcalibur 1/4" blades exclusively. The manual - for those who may need it - is simple, and very clear. The machine is slightly lighter than the Draper 2-wheel, and it really needs to be bolted to the bench (or use a non-slip rubber mat such as the ones from the "Pound Shop"). One point - at least with my machine it's important to make sure the blade guard is really tightly fixed. An excellent amateur's machine which is well priced and reliable.

Bandsaw suitable for small jobs, will struggle on larger pieces and hard woods.
This bandsaw worked well after setting up properly. As other users have mentioned, the blade it comes with is pretty poor, if your cutting larger pieces of wood you should invest in a more expensive and wider blade. I tried the Draper blades and it was much better than the Silverline, as reflected in the increased cost. It has an outlet for attaching a hoover to reduce mess, and 4 holes in the cast iron base so that you can bolt it to a surface, for light work you can just clamp it down firmly to avoid slippage. The power of the machine, and the blade clearance are not great and limit you to smaller pieces of wood. I've tried using this with large pieces of wood and it has been a slow process, expect any woods over an inch to go quite slow, especially hardwoods, but if you don't try to push it through too hard it will do the job. I can see why some people have marked down this a lot, as they are probably used to more powerful bandsaws, but if this is all you can afford then it will probably do the job. One thing I almost forgot, it came shipped with a fuse in the plug not strong enough for the ampage, I found this out when it died on me - I replaced the fuse and then all was well, it may just have been on the one I was sent, rather than a problem on them all.

Excellent
great product, but a few little niggles once out of the box, I had to change the plug as the one supplied did not fit into the socket, the legs of the plug where too wide to fit into the slots, not a problem if you can fit a plug, set up the saw (safety features and guides etc) as per the easy to follow instructions and turned it on. the motor is quiet and smooth. I have since ordered a finer toothed blade for the products i want to cut, but the blade supplied will be fine to cut normal sized timber plywoods etc. Well worth the money

Makes a great paper weight but a rubbish band saw.
Firstly this is my first band saw. So unlike a lot of the other woodwork type reviews this is fromM a band saw virgin. Getting it out of the box was fun it opened from the top but there was no way I could see to pull out the tightMy packed polystyrene around the saw. I had to turn it upside down and slowly pull up the box. Then all the bits started to fall out. The pa paging really needs 're thinking. Once out of the box I had no idea what I was doing . I checked the I instructions which are poor to say the very least. The images which your meant to follow are.sort of ok but instead of using number they used Roman numerals for each picture why really why the Roman empire was destroyed two thousand years ago why are you using Roman numerals. As I stated I was a bandSaw virgin . The written instructions seem to think everyone who buys one of these knows what they are doing . The language is technical and confusing assuming you know what the tension adjustment is for or even what it does. I ended up going on you tube to find similar toAt least get an idea of what I was doing. I eventually put it together but wether it's my inexperience or the blade is to loose or to tight who knows but it doesn't cut all the way through a piece of beech 3 by 2 inches I set up the guide which is pants in my humble opinion and tried cutting it to 3 by 1 inches . But no the blade stopped halfway through and.the cut resembled a dogs hind leg . So my first experience with a band saw was disappointing . I was hoping to use it in my spoon making endeavours but so far the hand saw wins out . I will go online tonight to try and find out how to both use this thing and set it up as the issued instructions were absolutely rubbish in my humble opinion. I will persevere in the hope that I can eventually make this work as it should. To add to this review it's not got any better I have tried to set it up as per many you tune videos to no avail. I have not once manged to cut a controlled curve following a line or cut a straight cut following a line. When you consider that's all this thing is supposed to do and it fails on every step. It's ok for cutting small cuts but again after an inch or so it tracks left or right no matter how it's set up. A total waste of money reluctant to buy another brand because if it's this difficult ill use a hand saw. Please please if you are going to buy a band saw to do woodwork like you see on numerous you tube videos of guys cutting out shapes and putting veneers , this won't do any of it. It's just an expensive paper weight. I'm going to write to silver line for advice but I'm not holding my breath for a result.aw

Good quality for the money
I've had a few Silverline products over the years and have never had any cause to complain. This bandsaw is particularly good. The bed is solid and the guides are accurate, the fence could be a little more substantial weight-wise but it does work ok. It didn't take long to set up and get running. It needs to be bolted to a substantial bench otherwise you'd risk it walking. the cuts are clean and can go down to a few millimetres.

Band saw
Great little band saw great for beginners and small workshop. Just remember to slacken the blade when not in use.
