Why did I ever buy ERTL!!!
These toys are so much better than anything ERTL sells. Built for children. Because John Deere has a license agreement with the United States, John Deere Bruder toys cannot be sold. I had to go to ebay and Amazon u.k. I purchased 2 combines - one from the U.K. and one from Portugal. Even with the shipping charges these items were cheaper than buying a John Deere Ertl toy here. These quality toys are made for children, functional, durable and just pretty darn fun to play with. Thank you Bruder for building a toy worth the money! I'll never waste my money on Ertl again.

Awesome...could it be too good??!!
My 4 year old loves all things farm machinery related so we'd bought him a combine harvester in lego before. As with all lego it isn't great if you want to then play with it.......but this is robust, big (!!) and great fun. Beware as the grain could turn into a nightmare but as my son would rather keep it in a bag, it's not a problem to me. It has lots of functioning/opening parts and has kept his interest for a month or so now when other toys have already been discarded. We have other Bruder products and I'm convinced that we should only buy Bruder from now on. Sadly he loves it so much he screams if anyone touches/moves it and refuses to let any other kids play with it......could it be too good??!!

Another nicely made Bruder toy
I didn't know this brand of toys until my then 2.5 year old was offered a tractor and a cement mixer over 1 year ago. I was trully impressed - the toys are just like the real thing and seem to be very durable. We then got him a trailer for his birthday and Santa brought him this harvester last Christmas. It very nicely made as with all Bruder toys it seems. It comes with a bag of grain so can be used like a real harvester. As a parent I would say that the only downside is the size of these toys - they all are pretty big, but still very much worth getting.

Very realistic; finally a true 1:16 scale combine that doesn't cost a fortune!
A far better design overall than the Ertil version. I had purchased the Ertil big farm version from my local John Deere dealer and while it was OK it has some serious design issues as far as a child actually playing with it. The Bruder is true to scale; the header will actually stay attached to the feeder housing of the Combine during play and comes with a header trailer and "grain" pellets as well. The header of the Ertil version would literally fall off every time it was reversed. The reel on the header of the Ertil was very sloppily made as well; it wobbled at least 3/4" (19mm) when it turned. Part of the issue with the Ertil design is size: the header is too large for the machine and plastic with no reinforcement tends to warp and wear very quickly. The ertil version is typical of of poor quality chinese manufaturing; the Bruder is made in Germany. The only problems I see with the Bruder are: 1. The grain pellets are very small and should be kept out of reach of small children (the directions state this as well)They add to the realistic factor as the unloading auger actually works; they will make a mess but are plastic and wont hurt the vacuum. Small kernel UN-POPED popcorn, small dry soybeans or peas will work as well. 2. The header does not lock in the raised position; probably by design because the Ertil lock mechanism broke with in the first week of use. 3. The grain tank flaps are a little weak; they have not broken yet but care should be taken not to over extend them as they tend to become disconnected easily. Weakness or not this adds to the realistic factor; this is as close to a real combine as anything I have seen yet; a great value over all. Very few 1:16 scale combines exist due to size and cost. Most of the ones that are made are precision die cast, cost in excess of $500 US dollars, and are intended for display and not play.

No grain
So received expensive combine harvester with no grain ! Contacted the seller who replied saying this product is sold without grain !!!! So what’s the point of purchasing it ? Especially when one of the photos of the said product shows a bag of grain . It is a great combine harvester but very expensive.

A great toy for a combine fan
My son saw this in a John Deere showroom a year ago and wanted it ever since. We bought it for his 5th birthday and it hasn't disappointed. It comes with plastic beads (you would need to keep away from small children!) that you feed into the hopper and then twist the screw inside the feeder arm to deposit your harvest into a trailer or whatever else you have to use. The header comes off and fits on a trailer which can be attached to the harvester. The only issue I have is with the lights at the front of the unit - the fixings aren't very strong and my son has somehow managed to snap off a bit of the plastic. The light is still in the fixing, but this could be better. Other than that, this is a great toy.
