Brilliant gadget
The media could not be loaded. Brilliant product and very easy to use. Identified noctule and soprano pipistrelle bats in my garden. We are luck to have the noctule because it has the loudest and lowest frequency call of any UK bat so it's really easy to pick up. Once I'd got it on the detector my 7yr old said "ohhh that's what the clicking noise is. I didn't realise it was the bat". Apparently it is entirely feasible that he could hear it unaided at his age and with that species. For those of us who have recheached adulthood and lost those higher frequency hearing ranges this is a magical way to head something very special. Always lovely to watch bats but to be able to hear them and identify which species they are makes it a lot more rewarding.

Good bat detector for hobbyists and those more serious
Good bat detector for hobbyists and those more serious. First introduced to this kit via a local bat walk. Relatively easy to identify the sounds/ frequency for commoner bats after a little practice.

Another good Bat Detector from Magenta.
Good Bat detector. No issues whatsoever with this item. Does what it should with no fuss or bother. It does the job very well. Good to have the frequency readout. The light for the display it not overly bright either. It won't be spoiling night vision. Headphone socket. Seperate record socket. You may have problems finding a company that has one left in stock.

Great little gadget
Very well made, brought a cheaper and different model/ brand (Batz) originally which I had to return and then ordered this which I am very happy with. Very easy to use, my 6 1/2yr old used it to show her class mates about her bat walk activities for her SAT's, LED torch on it isn't great but I didn't buy it for that. Looking forward to doing plenty of bat walks with this handy gadget.

Gone Batty
As an archaeology student I was fascinated by bats and frequently came across them on digs. I wanted to improve the chances of finding them and identifying them, so I purchased this unit. Sadly it is winter so bats are mostly hibernating. The thing about this unit is that it is (undocumented) so broad in its range (10 -130 kHz ) it becomes more than a bat detector. While waiting for spring, i've tracked down Mice (30-100kHz), Moths (80-100kHz) and a faulty bearing in my computers fan (25ish kHz). Such a fun and educational product.

Not working - no refund
Beware this item may arrive malfunctioning. I bought one in April and tried to use it but it wasn't picking up any frequencies. I urgently need it for a university dissertation project. After finally having it confirmed by a lecturer that this item does not work, I find it is too late to get a refund despite it being unused and not fit for purpose. Rubbish. I have wasted £100 on an item that is not fit for purpose. :-(

Nice but why the pricr£
Detected my first bat last night and the bat 5 worked great. Well constructed and easy to use, even for a child. My only gripe being the price. Buy from Gardennature direct for £95 or Amazon for £132. Feel a bit conned to be honest and will be more cautious in future. I suggest buying from supplier direct. Good luck with your bat hunting.
