Buy The Huge Bag of Worries by Ironside, Virginia, Rodgers, Frank (ISBN: 9780340903179) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Great addition for kids at school - Great addition for kids at school Review: Really effective and helpful for my 8 year old - I have an 8 year old son who has just started worrying constantly about various things including nuclear bombs, burglars, the sun ending, the world ending and it was getting more and more difficult to reassure him and calm him down especially at bed time. This book has been perfect as it shows that lots of children get worries and that the worries are not real or at least not as bad as they seem. Beautifully illustrated, the story is about a bag of worries that follows the child everywhere and nothing seems to get rid of this bag which is getting bigger until she opens up and talks about her worries. It allowed me to have that conversation with my son and he could see that talking about it was helping him as it did the girl in this book. I would highly recommend this to anyone with anxious children and I think the best age group it would work for would be 6 to 8 year olds.

Great for the classroom!
This a great book I have used with some of my children, especially as I have a class of worriers. I pick and choose which parts I mention and may leave some bits out when reading it so as not to cause other issues, I use the worries relevant to my class. We then discuss the book and do some work around this during PSCHE. The children love it and I have also used it with individual children to discuss their worries. I have read some of the reviews on here and understand some of the concerns raised which is why I pick and choose the worries discussed. Recommended.

Make worries melt away
I bought this for my son who has anxiety issues and couldn’t get to sleep for worrying. Lovely story which is easy for children to follow with colourful pictures to go along with the story. This book helped enormously with my sons worries. I’d definitely recommend it.

Do you have a child that worries?
Great book to buy if your child is a bit of a worrier. It explains in a way for children to understand that sharing your worries can help, what you can change and what you can't and that some worries are for the grown ups.

Helpful to discuss managing worries with a child.
I bought this book for my son who is a worrier. Essentially the main character/child is followed around by an ever growing bag of worries. An elderly neighbour helps the child to look at the worries and recognise that some should be handed back to others (e.g. some things are for mum and dad to worry about), some may not look so scary if you take them out and have a good look at them, etc. It helped me to talk with my son about sharing his worries through talking about them. A nice story for any child, but a helpful tool when needed.

I think it is a great book to help kids to see their worries as something normal and not that threatening as they think they are. I would have liked to see concrete examples at the end of the story, instead of making them disappear as it is done in this story. For example: if the girl said, ˋˋI worry that my mom loses her job'', and then help her to see that ˋˋthat worry belongs to her mom''

This book is an excellent resource for professionals and parents alike! If you have a child or work with a child who has many worries - this entertaining book provides a humorous way of looking at worries, but allows for thoughtful discussion! A great add to any library/resource list!

This book teaches children the importance of sharing their worries to others and thus helping children to manage their emotions (specifically anxiety).

This book is a wonderful resource for children to help them to talk about their worries. It provides insight into how worries can build up and become overwhelming for kids when they don't talk about them and provides helpful strategies for dealing with the worries. I use this book with the children I work with who have been sexually abused.
