This door changed our life
The media could not be loaded. We purchased the medium dog door about 9 months ago, and weâve used it long enough to say this thing has made a huge impact on the quality of life for my animals and has been extremely reliable. We own 6 small dogs under 20 lbs and a 40ish lb blue heeler (hes almost 18 years old). I also foster small dogs and at any given time have between 1-4 small dogs. During summer, sometimes for up to a week I may even have my daughters two small dogs during vacation season. Letâs just say this door gets a major workout!!!!My dog pack fly in and out this door all day - going potty, chasing friends, barking at a vehicle , chasing a noiseâŚ.. so many adventures to have!! When I bought this I was hoping theyâd be able to go potty on their own but itâs turned into a happiness door. Itâs the single most best pet purchase Iâve ever made. I only wish I had bought the size up so my old man blue heeler could use it. At the time, I really didnât think a 17 yo dog would have an interest in it, but he does and I wish I had the bigger door but donât.I had my neighborhood âmr fixitâ install it bc hubbyâs to-do list was too long. Took the guy about 90 mins. He said it was super easy. Plugged it in and threw the collars on the dogs and itâs been reliable ever since. I have extra collars for the fosters and grand dogs. Takes a new dog about an hour to figure it out with 100% success rate (about 30 of my dogs and fosters have used this door from 8 weeks old to 15 years old and took to it immediately with no hesitation).PROS:- quick easy install and comes with one collar- collar sensors are extremely durable- plugs in but also has battery backup in case of storms- can turn off at turn or if you leave home to secure pets indoors-pets under 25 lbs can fit through size medium. Buy size large for later pet.CONS:- additional collars must be purchased for approx $50 each- collar senders only fit on this ugly black collar they send you unless you buy a black rubber boot for $10 which also will protect the sensor from bite marks, mud, etc. then will slide onto a medium or small pretty collar.- on very rare occasions (probably a lady with a dozen dog problems) it gets confused and stays closed even when a sender approaches; just turn off then back on to correct.

Easy to install in a steel door. Sturdy and dogs love it
Update: the replaced power adapter seems to have fixed the door from lowering on my dogs. Also, regarding the weather proof aspect of the door, we have experienced one issue where the door would not open when/after it poured rain outside. I had to dry out the sensor and then it was fine. No issues since but something to be aware of with this product.Pros:So far, love the door. Our dogs already knew how to use a pet door, so training wasnât tough. It is not super noisy and only scared our anxious dog for a little bit and she got used to it. The other one loves the door for some reason. One of our dogs has trouble holding her bladder all night and we just moved into a new home, so we wanted and option that would allow them to use a pet door while not compromising security in our home. So far, the dogs have had no issues. One thing I like is the door doesnât seem to remain open if the dog remains next to it for a period of time.Door was very easy to install in our steel/glass door. My husband has some doubts about not using a professional but was not difficult when using a decent jigsaw and a metal rated blade. We have the larger size door for dogs up to 100 lbs, so the top part does occlude the glass a bit. Not that big of a deal, and not the vendorâs issue. The range adjuster on the door for inside and out is pretty nifty.Meh feedback:We ended up buying M5 collars separately because of the waterproof aspect. We kept the M4 as a backup because of the poor reviews folks had to say about the M4.Cons:We didnât get screws or the power adapter with our order, so that wasnât a plus. I do blame that on the shipping company though for manhandling they package. I am somewhat sure these two components fell out of the hole that was made in the cardboard during shipping. We have a power adapter that was rated for the same requirements, but the door says Low Battery. I had to purchase the company adapter from their page because you really canât find one long enough outside of their company, and Amazon doesnât seem to sell one with the same cord length. The door has ran into one of our two dogs using the door (not hard) two times, so Iâm going to watch it and rerate after I receive the new adapter. If it still continues to run into the dog while sheâs using the door, I will downgrade the rating and contact the seller.Hi Tech: if you ever read comments, one thing you really need to do is make the collar fobs fit normal collars. No one likes the crummy collars the fobs are sent with - they are junk. I had to use the zip tie approach to secure the fobs to the dogs waterproof existing collars. Also, I did know what I was getting into when buying the door with the cost total, but in all, we probably spent almost $800 for the door. Something to be mindful of if you want all of the bells and whistles. All in all, happy with the door. Time will tell - will revise if my review needs to change.
