Biotic Balance claims to work by using 4 broad spectrum probiotic “super strains” the idea being that each strain has a unique purpose in the gut which when taken in tandem work synergistically. The 4 stains also support (allegedly) various digestive goals with some chosen to digest dairy products, others sugars and one focusing on gut metabolism. So, what’s in the capsules.............. Bacterium Longum: Helps to break down grains, legumes, and cruciferous vegetables that some people cannot digest properly (i.e. allegedly helps the body to absorb more nutrients from such foods). Lactobacillus Acidophilus: Creates vitamin K as a by-product of reactions within the GI tract while also helping the body digest dairy products. Many people have difficulty in digesting dairy products and it is a fact that low amounts of Lactobacillus acidophilus in the gut has been directly linked to the problem. Lactobacillus Rhamnosus: Various studies on this beneficial bacteria related to its role in boosting metabolism, with some positive results. Saccharomyces boulardii – actually a yeast but one that has been studied extensively & been shown to produce positive results in conditions such as IBS & IBD. So there you have it, X4 specifically selected, synergistic bacteria (well X3 plus X1 yeast) designed to bombard the gut and establish a beneficial micro flora to support gut health, all at a reassuringly expensive price and the ease of taking just one capsule per day. And does it work? Well, my wife has suffered from difficulty in digesting lactose for years and also IBS. Having been through the medical route (with zero success) she turned to these about a year ago and whilst her condition is still there, after about 3 months of continual use, we did see a marked improvement in both conditions. The thing is with all these probiotic products is that you have to persevere for (I’d say) at least 3 months in order to gauge whether they have been successful or not. That said, in our case and despite the price tag of £85 for roughly 3 months supply it was money well spent, with my other half now just occasionally taking a tablet or course to beef up all that good bacteria. So, if you have £85.00 to spend and are prepared to see out the course, I’d conclude by saying that these are well worth a punt.

These are very effective if you suffer with intestinal/bowel problems. NO drugs - even better. BUT best of all - Amazon's subscription for monthly delivery - couldn't be more please. Previous experience was ineffective delivery times and parcels were so big I had to be in to accept them - with amazon, through the letterbox - thank you!

I suffer with ibs d, and after reading the reviews i thought i need to give this a try as someone said it helped with diarrhoea. Unfortunately in just a few days i have stopped going to toilet completely which is very uncomfortable and painful. I stopped taking them and now i am struggling to make things “move” by eating all the foods I usually have to avoid!
