Digital Integrated Circuits: A Design Perspective (Prentice Hall Electronics and VLSI Series)

Great book for understanding of CMOS and transistor networks. Also looks into the problems with scaling etc. Great book for universtity in my third year doing electronics.

Great book.

This book covers quite a lot of fundamental principles underlying modern vlsi digital integrated circuit principles.I would recommend it any day over books such as1.Wolf- Modern vlsi design;2.Leblebici-cmos digital integrated circuit analysis. (These two have been a waste of my time and money!)I would rate it at par or even slightly better than books such as..Digital integrated circuit design- Kenneth MartinCMOS VLSI design- Neil weste. (These have been Money well spent!)Overall, I would definitely recommend getting this book as a first or second reading if you are getting started on your vlsi course work.

I found this book to be a very messy reading! It was obviously written by three individuals who not always coordinated their own writing! The formulae presented are often not consistent.Chapters 3 and 5 are the messiest of all, yet they form the backbone of IC design; understanding the operation of an inverter. The treatment of dynamic logic circuits is somewhat better.The book alone made a very hard reading, for a beginner. I found "Microelectronic Circuits" by Sedra & Smith to be a far more readable alternatively. Also, not that this book does not cover at all VDHL!
