Q: how are they fitted please? is it a case of simply levering the old pads, then pushing these in as hard as they will go? thank you

It is as simple as that, however there is a pin that is located towards the back of the pad which can be tricky to fit. I understand that this is to prevent the pad from pulling out should you be going backwards down a hill (having not made the top and come to a stop).

Q: Will these fit onto CX cantilever brake housings?

Not sure how effective the three (triple) compounds are, but they are good value as there is plenty of ‘meat’ (thickness) on them, they work fine and they wear well. I was using them with Avid Shorty 6 cantilever brakes and Tektro mini-vee brakes. Compatibility, make sure you get the correct length (55 or 72), and there may be slight differences in the various brands of pad holders (insert may a bit tight to fit in some makes), these ones use insert with a slot and split pin.
