Easy to use and straight forward
Bought ad a replacement for a faulty one that decided to go off in the middle of the night. Spot on purchase. Easy to use, easy to understand and easy to install. Looks good too, decent size, not too big not too small and has a loud warning sound. Better to increase safety. Can't really say how long the Battery life is though. Time will tell I guess

Carbon Monoxide Detectors.
I ordered these 2 carbon monoxide alarms to replace 2 of the same brand that had passed their replace after 7 years instruction. They came next day, well packaged and full instructions.I have one fitted in the kitchen where the central heating boiler is situated and one in the lounge where there is a gas fire. Both came complete with batteries and look to be working OK.

Feels sturdy and seems to work!
Seems well made, easy to fit and alarms when the toast burns!

Comes with batteries.
Neat and tidy and at a fair price. Obviously, I can't rate their effectiveness until they work - (or don't.) - If the latter, and I'm asleep by the gas stove fire, - by default, they will still keep their 5 star review!!

STATUS Carbon Monoxide Detector - Fitment
I have only had this unit for 1 day so this review is for those looking to replace an existing, alternative manufacturer, CO detector. My original detector was from the more commonly recognised manufacturer (think of something hot and the item on top of a Xmas tree) whose mount holes were 65mm apart. When looking to replacing it with their current model the mounting holes were spaced 70mm meaning more holes in the wall. Some few buyers downgraded their review because of this. Doing a little research it transpired many plumbers merchants and Amazon were selling this STATUS unit which had good reviews BUT nowhere could I find out its mounting details. So I took a gamble with buying one and here they are. The unit has a back plate which is secured to the wall with 2 screws, 65mm apart which meant no more holes. Mounting is simple, out with the original screws, on with back plate in with screws. Built into the back plate is a break out item in the shape of a bottle. Nowhere in the manual is this mentioned but once broken out its used to lock the front unit, through a side slot, onto the back plate. I did not use it because I could not see how to remove it once installed. The unit takes 3 x AA batteries which should be changed every 2 years or when the front POWER light tells you. The battery compartment has 3 arms which spring out preventing the front panel from being installed on the back plate without batteries...why on earth would one do that anyway. As for operation, once the batteries were installed it fired up without issue and did all it should after TEST mode. Prices are all over the place but Amazon beat most. Hopefully we are safe for 10 years.

Good review by British Gas fitter .
The one I had was fitted by British Gas about ten years ago. It had a sealed battery and 10 year sensor, it said on the side replace June 2024 and was beeping to show battery power was low.I paid a lot more for that one from British Gas than I’ve paid for this replacement one. When I saw the review saying a British Gas fitter had been fitting this Status one for eight years without a problem that was good enough for me.It seems very well made and came with three AA batteries that are supposed to last two years. It was very easy to fit, screw the back plate to the wall and slide alarm body into it.It looks better fitted horizontally but could be fitted vertically but then you would be viewing its tiny screen and writing on it from the side. Wouldn’t make much difference to how it works though. The two screws provided are useless with heads that are supposed to fit all types of screwdrivers, but in reality fit none very well. I find this with all screws provided for anything that comes from the far East. They must have different screwdrivers than us or are just too mean to provide us with better screws! Not a problem to me with a good selection of screws to choose from but it might be if you are not much of a handyman and expect screws to be provided. It beeps every minute when first set up but this can be disabled by pressing the test button for about 5 seconds. The alarm is very loud and I am pleased with it so far.No adverse comments from the gas fitter who has just given my boiler its annual service and who supplied the old one and checked it each year when doing the annual boiler service.November ‘24.Just bought another one because pleased with the first.Bundled it with a status smoke alarm which is clearly a separate item. Can’t see anywhere where the CO detector claims to be a smoke detector as well.So those who give it only one star because it’s misdescribed, are clearly mistaken.Patrick
