After knee replacement surgery, This works perfectly.
There are far more expensive versions out there, which will make you wonder if this cheaper version is up to the job?It is ! I read other reviews that said “ Don’t know why the pump is there?” Answer, So after you have attached the cuff to the desired area, knee, thigh or calf, you pump air into the cuff to apply pressure to the cold gel which in turn applies pressure to the body, works a treat! If you happen to over inflate, depress the button by the pump, the cuff releases some air, easy.Someone else said “It’s very difficult getting the iced gel into the gel sleeve” Answer, it’s not. The gel never freezes solid, just firm.Take it from the freezer, gently manipulate the gel with your hands for 10 seconds. This makes is very pliable whereby you will have no difficulty inserting it into the gel sleeve. Tip, if you find the coldness of the gel dissipates too soon for yourself, take the gel out and flip it over and put back into the sleeve. I easily get well over an hour of very cold. So I tend to move from knee to calf to ankle in this time, that’s more than enough for most.Don’t spend hundreds of pounds on some all singing all dancing type with ice compressors to lug about, this will definitely do the job perfectly. Great product. As for product longevity, only time will tell but for a fraction of the cost of high end variants, you could have 4 of these.

Effective cooling … but is the inflatable pump really necessary?
First impressions out of the box – well made, good quality materials, and a large gel pack for cooling/heating. In the past, when I’ve injured my knee, I’ve cobbled together support from available bandages and packs of frozen peas. This Arris knee wrap is a much better solution! After cooling the gel pack in the freezer for a few hours (two hours minimum are recommended) it was by then very inflexible, and therefore quite awkward to insert into the knee wrap. One of the target markets for this product is those with arthritis. My 83-year-old very arthritic mother-in-law would need someone to do this for her, and to fit it to her knee, but for able-bodied people a little perseverance is all that’s required. The design allows a good tight fit around the knee, assisted by the long Velcro straps. It’s quite bulky, so I put it over tight-fitting leggings as I think it would be uncomfortable under anything other than very baggy trousers. This worked well – the cooling of the whole knee area – including the central bit over the kneecap – was fast and much longer lasting than packets of peas or devices with a smaller gel pack. The only thing I didn’t like was the air pump. I found I could get a very good fit around my knee without using it. When I DID use it, to try it out, the knee wrap became very bulky – which is OK if you’re immobile and don’t plan to walk anywhere, but otherwise, not ideal. If you’re able to walk despite your injury, I found that if I situated the air pump and hose onto the knee wrap in the same position as the photos supplied, the hose flapped around in an annoying sort of way, and the pump worked its way down my leg very quickly and banged against my calf. This is because the Velcro which attaches the pump to the hose is not very tight, so the pump can easily slide along the hose!So I wrapped the hose around my leg and attached the pump in a position where it couldn’t slide down the hose. This was a lot better … but I think I’ll probably end up cutting the pump and hose off.Overall, a well-made knee-wrap with large cooling/heating gel pack, capable of fitting tightly over the injured knee. But is that pump really necessary?

does the job
an excellent replacement for a £300 ice/compression machine we were recommended by the hospital! Very efficient, does the job. It takes quite a while though for the ice pack to freeze again (about 2-3 hours in a normal freezer), and also the deflating mechanism is not always working...but all in all, a very good device!

Helps relieve pain and reduce swelling.
Had problems getting the air out when finished, but now have to keep pumping it up while using. May not have the pump valve tight enough.

Very impressed by the build quality.
I bought this item because I have arthritis in my knee and needed something to help as I’m a postman and walk about 6-8 miles a day. I was advised to try this sort of thing by a medical friend of mine. I viewed several similar products on Amazon and elsewhere, then decided on this one because I have an Arris heated waistcoat and am pleased with that. When it arrived I was really impressed by the quality of it, it’s really well made and good heavy quality. After trying it on my knee I am further impressed. It’s amazing how just a half hour of using this can make such a difference to my knee pain. Before buying this I was seriously wondering how long I could carry on in my job, now I’m confident this will help me carry on for the foreseeable future. In my opinion this is probably the best ‘drug free’ treatment I have found for my knee problem and I wish I’d tried it before. I have already told my colleagues with similar problems to buy one. Brilliant piece of kit.
