Fabulously different!
This book has a wonderfully rambling narrative that takes you on an adventure of words and ideas. It follows Fran's thoughts and does so in no particular order. It starts with Dunc (a fascinating character) and as with all thought processes, the train of thought digresses from it's origin before taking you along another path many times - almost ad infinitum. I found myself reading at 100 miles an hour at one point as the pace of the writing carries you along and I had to force myself to slow down so I didn't miss anything. A refreshingly different book that you should just read and enjoy with an open mind. It may not be to everyone's taste as there is not a traditional plot, but for me this is what makes it an enchanting and interesting read.

Flickering flames captured in a book
The book is a surreal, stream of consciousness, like a series of Rorschach images painted with words or a free association exercise expanded into a book. An internal monologue captured on paper. It’s best read slowly, or dipped into randomly, savouring each image the words, almost haphazardly assembled, conjure in your mind. There appears to be no inherent meaning. Instead, the images are conjured in much the same hypnotic, deeply relaxing, way you might conjure images when gazing into the flickering flames of a comforting fire on a dark winter’s night. It defies conventional review. Privately published I’m not surprised it didn’t appeal to a conventional mainstream commercial publisher as it would be difficult to find a mass market. All the more credit to Frances for her persistence in writing the book and supporting its launch on an unsuspecting world. One line reads “Write and have it read.” Frances has written. I’d recommend you read.

This book is a wonderfully modern and more fragmented than the traditional of stream of consciousness narrative. The structure, despite being disjointed, felt familiar -- jumping from point to point, as would a contemporary thought process. Yet, its voice is poetic. Causing the reader to stop for contemplation. The book is a strange mixture of prose, first-person narrative, poetry, and philosophy, but it this strangeness works. It feels like you’ve been thrown into the head of a protagonist, unedited and unconstrained. I’d recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something true and new.

Wonderfully funny and mesmerising read.
This book is a wonderful read! Fran's style of writing has an almost hypnotic quality, and this is the sort of book that one could easily become immersed in for hours on end. I have really enjoyed reading this, so much so that, since finishing it, I have gone back to dip in and out of some of my favourite chapters.

Written with energetic freedom, charm and an unconventional narrative style
Hard to define but part stream of consciousness and part mindfulness, a narrative that could be totally immersive and sometimes hard to stay with, but rewarding if you did. I found myself picking up the book and dipping in and out at random pages, very different from my usual reading diet but sometimes you need to try a new flavour. If your looking for something different, I think you'll not be disappointed.

Typo jostles you along the stream with poetry, unexpected thoughts bumping into each other, beauty, sadness. If you have never read a stream of consciousness novel before try Typo and let yourself drift through the shallows and rapids of language and thought.

It sure is different!
If you like a book with structure, this is not for you. I struggled to find a beginning, a middle or even a recognisable paragraph! In fact I couldn't make head nor tail of it. But I was stopped in my tracks by the flashes of humour that made me smile and the delightful descriptions of places and people that showed such perception and sensitivity. This is probably the most challenging and the most insightful book I have ever read!

Escape from reality
I enjoyed reading Fran's book. When reading it you can escape from all the stresses and pressures of normal life. I love the words Fran uses, poetry with a difference. It's also a great book to pick up and dive into when you need that escape.
